How many Miscers talk to their parents?

For the late 20's and older crowd, how often do you see or speak to your parents?

I rarely see them much in the past few years and I have been getting worse and worse at calling them to check in. I think for me there is the fact that I typically live far away and am always on the move so it usually isn't feasible. But I also have started to recognize that there is a bit of resentment within me for my parents for some of the mistakes they have made in life.

I see other families who stayed together and maintain a very close connection and it does irk me sometimes knowing that my parents ruined that for us (divorced).

Sorry to hear that boyo. I wish I talked more to my parents but I don’t think they really want to talk to me. They never call me, and when I call them they seem busy. I don’t really blame them for not wanting to talk to me, they pretty much just want to know I’m not dead or homeless/jobless, and see me occasionally so they feel at ease and don’t have to worry. It’s more about their own comfort and well-being than anything, which is fine as they deserve to enjoy their lives without having to constantly worry about their failure of a son. Don’t feel sorry for myself or anything like that, it just is what it is. Not everyone is good at relationships and that’s something I have to accept about myself.

You are probably right to feel a certain way about your parents, as you are human and therefore have emotions. Just don’t let those feelings get to you because that’s the worst thing you can do to yourself.

Man, everyone makes some mistakes in life.

Ask your self how you’ll feel when they are gone. Life is too short. Mine are aging so I call every 3-4 days.

I speak with my parents/siblings at least once a week.

With extended family - a message here and there really, not very close with them.

On the phone every couple weeks. Text a little more often. I see my mom for days at a time several times during the summer when I go to the beach house, plus holidays.

You are very depressing.

I understand that they are just people who didn't really know any better themselves. After all my parents had parents of their own who failed them in many ways as well. It's just sort of frustrating that they couldn't break that cycle a bit more for their own children. I ended up okay in many ways but my siblings aren't as lucky.

I don't hold any of my parents history or their faults against them, but I do recognize how they shaped the lives of my siblings and I. Both of my parents love all their kids and for the most part tried their best. If I ever do end up having kids of my own hopefully I can break the cycle and give them more than what I got.

I know for a fact there are so many other people out there who got dealt a real ****ty hand from messed up parents/childhood. My situation ain't that bad don't misunderstand me.

What would your parents think of they saw your post history?

Instead of being an alpha on a gay bodybuilding forum I get to, not resent my parents. LOL. Oh, and despite them living 3000 miles away, I see them all the time. But you keep being alpha.

See and speak to my parents every other day at least...sometimes 3-4 days in a row. I'll do little things around their house and cut the grass too.

I see my dad every couple days for work things, but my mom I only see maybe once per month or so.

I don't have a bad relationship with them, but they give a lot of bad advice and aren't particularly uplifting, so I kinda try to keep them at arms length. For whatever reason, I notice myself feeling worse after spending time with them.

Talk to them every few days, see them probably an average of once a week. They only live 10 minutes away so there is no excuse to not see them. As they get older I am having to go over and help them with things more and more.

Talk to my siblings maybe once a month and see them every couple of months. Should probably talk to them more often but we all have our own lives.
