Why do people do hard drugs?

I’ll never understand it, I don’t even drink alcohol or smoke weed anymore

Like how does someone get to the point that they use heroin,crack,meth etc

Depends on the individual, but it rewires the brain to crave it. It'll get to the point where it'll cause an emotional response so strong that it'll cause the body to think it will die without it.

Others do it to chase the dragon.

Eventually, you cannot live without it, thus being on methadone for the rest of your life.

Worked with drug court for a number of years.

For a while, doctors were passing out opioid pain killers like candy and a lot of people got hooked from what started out as legitimate use.

I saw an article a few years ago that said 5 years prior, 93% of heroin addicts started with pills, and of those that started with pills, 80% started with a legit prescription.

5 years later at the time of the article, again 93% of heroin addicts started with pills, but of those that started with pills, 85% did not start with a legit prescription.

Because I'm invincible, the folks that become addicts are weak minded.

You see your friends do it, and you're young and dumb and think they are ok, must not be as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The government and media lie about everything else, probably this too. You're already drunk so the bad decisions are easier to make.

I got lucky the guy who was bringing the H to smoke at the party when I was 19 didn't show up. He was a friend of the older crowd, and had a "good job", the H didn't bother him one bit is what they told me. I cleaned my chit up a few months after that and never saw those guys again.

It's hard to say, but most are "Catch & release". It's not a left vs right, it's money, time, manpower (or lack thereof). If we housed every druggie caught, there would literally be no room for the violent crims.

So, even if a druggie, whether user or dealer is caught, if they have no violent past, they are released with a small fines/restitution, and probation. Even after they violate probation, they are given very little jail time (rarely go to prison, unless violent).

It shouldn't be a concern whether who or who does not get caught. Being in jail rarely cleans anyone up. It's actual recovery/rehab, and that's even more limited than jails in terms of beds.

Drug court requires rehab, but limited space, the time mandated is usually not enough, and the person falls off the wagon as soon as they finish their sentence.

Psychedelics are very enjoyable. I rarely touch drugs, even alcohol (despite being Irish lol) but have taken mushrooms twice in the past 6 months and they were great. First time was a low dose and I just felt incredibly relaxed, the next time was higher, saw some visuals, same relaxed feeling and giggles etc. Plan on doing a higher dose for some introspective feeling next time. Liberty caps literally grow in fields 10 minutes from my house and my buddy is going to show me where to pick them when the season starts in September srs.
