Beetlejuice is getting a sequel

Following along the lines of a loose reboot, Beetlejuice is coming out with a sequel after over 30 years. Beetlejuice 2 is set to be theatrically released on September 6, 2024, by Warner Bros. Pictures. Thoughts? According to the main writer: "I don't wanna be the guy that destroys the legacy and the memory of the first film; I would rather die. I would rather just not make it, I'd rather just throw the whole thing away than make something that pays no respect and doesn't live up even close to the legacy of the first film."

It's been in development getting kicked around for years. Suddenly you get a new hit show that created a new "goth IT girl" and they sign her and finally push it forward. Like the original is so beloved the sequel shouldn't need the new IT girl to carry it

30 years? 1988 to 2024 is damn near 40 years ago.

I feel about the same way as I did about Dumb and Dumber To (came out in 2014, 20 years after the original) - these ancient movies really don't need to be getting sequels 15 - 30+ years past their time. It almost never ends well.

Traditionally ghosts are always white. I have no doubt they can figure out a way to squeeze in some black sheets and tell us that we should be doing better. For sure there will have to be a they/them in the waiting room and there will have to be a big scene about "it's ma'am" to make the audience feel like they are bad people for judging corpses.
