Anyone grow their calves from sticks to cows? Srs
Took my calves from 14ish to 15.5 in about a year, but I'm 6'3" so I don't think they'll look good until they're around 17".
Anyone have any inspiring stories?

I think it's mostly genetic unfortunately. My calves are bigger than my arms and I've never trained them. My dad is 65 and has like 21" veiny calves lol. But if what you are doing isn't working, I'd try something else... I've heard people say they have to train them like every day to get them to grow

Genetics are a big one with calves. You can definitely get solid calves by working them out a lot with high high volume.
I always had huge calves from soccer plus genetics. At one point though after I stopped playing soccer I decided to do calves 4x a week with absurd volume. Usually 6-8 sets of 30-40 reps with light weight so I can feel the entire movement. My calves were scary big and as wide as my quads when pumped. It looked kind of ridiculous.

actually yeah brah.
at the start of 2012 when on deployment i wanted to lose abt 45-50lbs so id lift a few times a week and for cardio id run or walk an incline on the treadmill maybe 4 miles a day on avg w/slope set at 15 or whatever the max is & speed between 3.1ish to 6.5ish.
i guess that was around 8,400 steps a day for 120 of the 140ish days that year before i came home in mid-may so maybe just over a million steps in all or at least 800k + when you guess that maybe 1/3 of it was running so each steps then might have been 5-6ft instead of 2.5ft walking.
was gone oct-dec in the months prior but didnt start losing weight til Jan but lemme tell you my calves were ginormous as fuk. ive always had bigger calves than usual but dayum.

Good luck...

quicks stats: fattest part of my then-muffin top went from 38.5in to 32.5 (something like 6 inches off). well i guess its like 4-7lbs per inch off waist or something so i am spit-balling here but i went down like 42lbs exactly x 3500 / 140days was like an average of -1050 calories a day or a net of about +700 cals per day assuming BMR of 1700.
prolly ate 2k calories but worked out or walked off i guess that would be 1300 cals. blew my mind bc that showed even in a 1k cal deficit some parts would still grow so if calves could, why not chest, back, arms etc but unfortunately despite all that I did not see any measurable gains of my dink.
watch some miscer though come in here and try to split hairs like uh uh sir ur BMR should have been exactly 1713.473 xyz.
fuk outta here.

As most have already said, calf size is wholly genetic. If your calves are naturally small, any growth you think you see is either due to increased vascularity (from weight loss) or just a pump from the gym.
The only way to beat the genetic barrier is through steroids, and even then If you genetically have high calf insertions, steroids are not going to give you the fuller low calf insertion like asians have.

As you said, anyone saying theyve had good calf progress is lying/delusional AF. Post me one calf transformation IRL or from the internet, I'll wait

Alex Hormozi made his calves look huge despite his high calf insertions and poverty genetics. inb4 "but steroids!" He just started working out his calves at the beginning of every workout.
From this

To this which is respectable

Nobody in history has ever grown their calves noticeably from lifting. It has just never happened.
It is 100% genetic.
Occasionally someone frauding on the internet will claim that they did, but they always disappear from sight when asked for before and after pictures.

Most people don't train calves though, and when they do...they do like 12 reps for 3 sets. You have to absolutely merk your calves into oblivion and you can get some solid calf muslces for whatever your insertions are.

And in 30 years of going to the gym I've regularly huge guys come up to me and ask what my calf routine is and I've literally never trained calves.

Saying dennis wolf has stick calves is like saying this guy on the left has stick arms. Whatever muscle insertions you have, you can grow the muscle. It's not that hard to understand.

It's genetic. I don't train calves and mine are 19". Same as my arms.
