Teacher I guess.

When you're a cop, you're driving a lot, you're doing lots of paperwork, so it's not like 100% of your time is spent with citizens. But during the majority of moments you are, people are disgruntled, drunk, high, mentally ill, or a combination of those. And your job function is to make criminals unhappy (chase, arrest, process, deal with their chit-talking or behaviors while processing, etc.).

If you're a teacher, then 90% of your time is spent with dumb wild kids, but they still have parents/guardians, they're afraid of failing or getting referrals. And you get summers off, for either a vacation or some other part time / seasonal job.

I'd say teacher > special ed teacher > police. They usually have good retirement plans. I'd say police have better pay all around, but it's not worth the risk and job function.

High school teacher. I get more time off. I do my job and ignore the retarded students and let the resource officers deal with the fights.

i went to inner city schools as a kid and let me tell you, I've had multiple teachers QUIT their jobs right in the middle of class due to just how wild and disobedient these kids are. The teachers who quit were always the young white chicks who thought they can make a difference in the life of a poor non-white kid in the ghetto. Boy did they get a wake up call.

Now this was around 20 years ago, I can't imagine just how much worse it's gotten today. Many of those criminals the cops are dealing with, guess what their children are going to school in these inner cities. Imagine the frustration and hopelessness of trying to teach a class of 35 kids when 28 of them act like wild animals and ruin your attempts to teach the 5-7 of the well-behaved students. You literally can't discipline them or put them in their place either.

It's why many of the schools have teachers who give no ****s and let the kids run wild. They just sitting there collecting their pay

Yeah those 60k salaries and full benefits only working 9 months a year in a comfy air conditioned building. Those poor teachers. Try bending heavy steel for a living

Both are sh*t choices but I’ll take the armed profession.

Initially I was thinking i'd prefer to be a teacher. I remembered though some high percentage of teachers do not last long as teachers. Most do not enjoy being teachers. Doing a quick internet search one article said 44% of teachers leave the teaching profession within 5 years. Apparently there is to much politics involved in being a teacher these days.

Being a teacher at a private school or even a charter school would be more enjoyable than being a teacher at a teacher union run school.

Being a police officer in a Democrat run city sounds awful. The blue politicians vilify the police. If anything goes wrong, they will not cover your back. On the other hand with so many new rules being issued by blue politicians for the police on not going after criminals, along with using social workers for more emotional issues, domestic violence, alcohol abuse, etc, being a police officer in an blue run inner city might be absolutely terrible, if you keep your head down.

I don't know. I could go either way on this hypothetical.
