Slavery has been a part of nearly the entirety of human civilisation.

The most notable thing about white people (and especially the British) with regards to slavery, is that they were the first to actively choose to end their participation in slavery based on ethical reasons by their own free will (and to their own detriment).

Lets be honest there's no way that the white people that landed in Africa, after months at sea, were going to run down those people to capture them as slaves. Africans had to have captured other Africans and given whitey the idea of buying their captured prisoners.

It's pretty well established it was a transaction, we didn't just go and capture slaves, we were sold them. Mostly African warlords captured people from various differing warring African nations and sold them as slaves.

And yes, as explosiveMidget pointed out, slavery in general is a class based phenomena, not a race based one. For example, in the UK during the height of slavery, approximately 2% of white people actually kept slaves.

If white people are allowed to be held responsible for slavery for what the privileged 2% did (the same 2% that likely oppressed the other 98%), then there should be absolutely no problem holding an entire group responsible for massively over-represented crime statistics (which is more than 2% of that certain group)

If people stopped engaging in petty race squabbles and inter-class fighting on other petty issues, they'd realise nearly all oppression in history is class based and perpetuated by the same tiny elite group of people that are still in power, and still oppress most of the population. The same group of people who virtue signal to us and tell us to be kind, are the people who's relatives kept slaves, made a chit ton of money from it, and elevated their families to the positions their patrons still enjoy. You don't see them willingly giving up their family wealth that was in huge part built by slaves do you? Hypocrisy is through the roof.

The world needs to remember Liberia, srs. Cliffs:

-Freed US slaves given option to start new life in carved out Africa's Liberia
-Many took said option, many died getting there
-Once there, they didn't fit in with the locals, and felt themselves superior
-Proceeded to enslave the locals
-This happened for the better part of 80 years IIRC

Every conquered nation has been used as slaves throughout history. Nothing new here.

Slavery existed for thousands of years. Since before Europeans ever arrived in Africa. Little known fact. When Europeans arrived in the pacific NW in North America. They discovered a thriving slave trade among the natives of that region. So it was occurring thousands of miles away among totally different people. It was also occurring in Asia.


Oddly enough I'd say Europeans were the last group of people to begin to engage in mass scale slavery. And they were the first to abolish/end it.


White people ended slavery. Without white people deciding it was wrong and they should end it, it would still be going on a mass scale today. They should be thanked.
