If someone committed non-violent crimes, or claimed to be a criminal/gangster. Would you hang out with them still?

I associate with people who can:

1) Help me increase my station in life

2) Aren't gonna cause me problems. A criminal, even if he has a good heart, would probably be dark cloud that's gonna bring bad luck to people around him.
