Mercedes turns off Russia

German auto giant Mercedes-Benz has completely disconnected Russian dealers from its software, the Izvestia daily reported on Monday, citing the press service of the company’s distributor in Russia.

Access has been suspended to online systems used for maintenance and identification of problems, Mercedes-Benz Russia reportedly told the outlet. Izvestia sources said Germany’s BMW Group has also restricted Russian dealers’ access to its software.

“Dealers have indeed been disconnected from the manufacturer’s online software systems. In some cases, the lack of access to online systems will increase repair times,” Mercedes-Benz Russia was quoted as saying. Car repairs and maintenance will be based on “accumulated experience and knowledge,” the dealer noted.

Gonna be LOLing hard at EV schmucks in about 2 years when power grids are routinely shut down because of Climate Lockdowns.


I'm seriously considering picking up a new Toyota 4Runner because in the coming years a reliable vehicle with an I.C.E. and 4 wheel drive will be a valuable commodity.

Even where I'm at in San Diego most people drive either ICE or hybrids and the tesla owners are usually rich enough for their EV to not be their only car.

Russia doesn’t get to attack other countries and also benefit from the global cooperation that made other manufacturer’s vehicles available in their country in the first place.

Sounds like a great opportunity for Russian car manufacturers and software providers

I'm seeing EVs everywhere in LA. Even broke plebs can now afford the lowest Tesla model.


My brother-in-law recently invest in a 2023 Dodge Challenger, yes "invested", because he firmly believes that muscle cars with a manual transmission will be phased out in the coming years.

If Russians managed to emulate Blizzard's Diablo 3 server then they should be able to crack Mercedes software

Actually cracking and bypassing anti - right to repair software in things like tractors has been an Eastern European specialty for awhile now
