think i'm going to back out of an offer even though i've been unemployed for 7 months

- received an offer that requires me to move to CO
- looked at apartments in CO and realized it's kind of a chithole now (high CoL, ton of homeless, etc)
- now thinking i'm going to reneg on my acceptance even though i've been unemployed since Feb. and will have to start my hunt from scratch

Thanks brah, I've been back to applying on LinkedIn/Indeed. I have quite a bit of industry certs and 4 years of relative work experience. My biggest downside is the huge unemployment gap and my tenure at companies isn't stellar (first company out of college was 2 years, then company after that just over 1 year, then the company I was laid off from only 4 months). It's a bad trend but I still get interviews so not the end of the world.

Colorado has been overrated since at least 2018. Can't imagine moving to a state 6 years after the Californians took over.

Wouldn’t be possible because it’s for a big defense contractor.

The problem is I would have to commit 2 years because if I leave after 1 year, I have to pay 50% of relocation package. And the way they do their relo is they hire 3rd party company to pack/load/ship/unload your stuff. So this will be paying a crew for like 4-5 days of work and travel, which I can only assume to be like $10k or something.

Compared to my state:
- my CoL would literally double
- there’s a lot more homeless people spread out
- traffic there is horrible
- snows more in CO and honestly my car sucks driving in snow so would prob have to get new vehicle
- what makes CO great (hiking, skiing, etc doesnt interest me)

The biggest pro is that CO is way more of a tech hub than my city

Cloud and devops work and they want you in the office? Sounds like it’s all boomers there. Wouldn’t enjoy that lifestyle honestly.
