This is the reason why our system is so corrupted.

I imagine we have had many leaders who go into office genuinely wanting to improve the lives of everyday Americans then they eventually come to the realization that these people do not want improvement, they don't want to be saved and may not even be worth saving. If you do things to naturally raise the value of their labor then they call you racist, if you tell them to value the lives of their children then they call you a misogynist, if you tell them you want to lower their everyday cost of living then they say you don't care about the planet. If you try to save these people, they will attack you for it and they will support your enemies because they are not worth saving, why not get rich and become untouchable instead?
