It isn't new and it wouldn't be my first choice at all, but if you aren't otherwise able to get Type 2 under control it is an option.




I have a lot of family who have been diagnosed with Type 2, mostly on my mom's side. Her mother had it, she had it, and there is one sister still living who has it. There were a couple of relatives on the other side too.

I read about duodenal switch surgery resolving Type 2 diabetes back around 2012. At that time they were just beginning to look at it as a treatment for non-obese individuals. I think it was a small study done in France?

So far I don't have it and hope I never do, but I'm aware that I really need to keep my health habits on track and that the onset for a lot of people is in the mid fifties.

It would be a major change- effects how much you can eat, what you eat, your digestion and bathroom stuff. You have to supplement vitamins and get regular lab work done to monitor for deficiencies. But you shouldn't have issues with organ failure, or losing one of your feet due to uncontrolled blood sugar.

I hate diabetics.

My best friend is a diabetic since childhood and was always skinny, active, and could dunk at 5’10”.

If you develop type 2 go on a keto or near keto diet. Yeah not everybody who gets it is obese by body mass, some are "skinny fat" who are normal or slightly overweight but have a lot of visceral fat relative to their total weight. Speaking of which, lay off the sauce if relatives have gotten T2DM. Fuk stomach resectioning. Malabsorption of nutrients FTL.

Likely type 1-my grandfather was the same & had multiple heart attacks. He was abysmal at not going for the sugary stuff. My aunt controlled it inside-but he would go out & scoff cakes, fizzy sugar drinks etc. Once she mistakenly gave me his tea which had saccharin in & it was disgusting.

I was diagnosed type 2 In my 30’s. I never heard of this. It’s better than a pump right? Which I do NOT have. But I was told that’s the only fix if you fail to get it under control.

That's Type 1 DM, which is autoimmune. Not his fault. Type 2 though - very rare it isn't the person's fault. I know a guy who developed it after a prolonged period of corticosteroids, but chances are he was almost there and those just pushed him over the edge. Type 2 can be reversed.
