Give a person a paid off house/car for life + $2,000 month "allowance" and they can live pretty well without doing much work in most low-medium cost of living places...perhaps 95% of the land area in America.

I'll agree with this. There comes a point where a person has enough money to afford everything a person really needs/worth buying and any more is just for luxury/showing off type stuff.

You're proving my point. A level of money is required - how much that is depends on the person. My company pays more than that cited "allowance" as my insurance plan per month, just saying.

It's why I've stuck around for a chill fully remote job that doesn't really pay that well. I could be making like 20k more but I have all the time in the world to do what I want instead of being stuck in an office/commuting for 50+ hours a week

No it won’t. I’m making 3x what I did when I entered the workforce but living essentially the same quality of life. Yes, I have a car now and I live in a better neighborhood, but I’m still in a 1BR apartment, still living paycheck to paycheck, still pulling out my savings to keep the lights on, still have zero ability to invest, still struggling. Only difference is I’m making more while paying more.

This is why I choose to retire in my 20s once I had enough to last me. I didn't want to be on that never ending cycle of needing more, more, more...while being required to work more, more, more to pay for it. All the while as time slipped away with life revolving around a job.

Find out what you really need in life...get the debt down to $0 and living expenses as close to $0 as possible. Get some sort of passive income stream to pay those living expenses...with a little left over to invest/save/increase income every month. Own all your time and truly be among those that are really wealthy.
