So we develop technology to make sure we can still create food, have water and develop strategies to deal with massive weather events. My city in Canada has suddenly gone from having one tornado in the last five years to three already so far this summer, which is unheard of but apparently could be the new normal. So get a generator and if you see one coming, stock up and make sure you have insurance. It's not like you're going to stop it.

That's why they just changed it to "climate change" and stopped saying global warming or global cooling.
Now when anything happens they can just go "muh climate change"

if all the catastrophic modeling is accurate and going to happen, like say the sea level rising, why is all the money going to efforts that will only "slow the inevitable" instead of stuff like, building dykes around Manhattan?

The retarded right wing base will eat it up of course. Stop research into renewables too. Just keep burning all the fossil fuels. Hell, how about burning more coal again?
The best renewable is geothermal but the power company can't charge you sheckles every month for it, so interest in it is low. And of course the reasons not to use coal aren't just about CO2, as coal is the main reason there are heavy metals in fish, coal fuks up the health of mining communities, etc. The recent attacks on natural gas are ridiculous, as solar and wind can't provide any base power. Non lithium based batteries hold a lot of promise but they always seem to be just out of reach for actual production.
EVs on the consumer side so far are profiteering and reliant on massive subsidies. Not to mention they each require more copper in them than neighborhoods of houses. They make little sense even in clean electricity places. Where they make sense is in trucking, delivery like UPS, buses, trains, etc. Gasoline and ICE vehicles make sense for us consumers and will until renewably generated hydrogen is extremely plentiful, which is decades from now. It certainly can't hurt to buy a hybrid as a consumer vehicle. They require magnitudes less of the resources that full EVs do while nearly doubling MPG over a traditional ICE vehicle.

Well, then go make a difference by stapling those inverted testicle curtains to a gas pump, opie.
Oh, wait...

Putting a bullet in any WEF member would benefit the climate more than paper-fukking straws.
Electricity costs are set to keep rising, butwe're all supposed to happily switch over to overpriced, feature-locked EVs so that we can supplant our already inflating rates with the added cost of powering anentire car.
Completely new infrastructure has to (slowly) be contracted out to facilitate charging EVs under the assumption that we won't find a far superior or incompatible alternative which could lead to expensive waste in the long run, and older homes will need to be retrofitted with new panels on top of the charging station cost itself.
To wit, our entire electrical grid is outdated and already faces being strained trying to supply our current electrical needs. That, too, needs costly updates across the country not only for supply, but an even greater need for stability and reliability. Seeing as how we struggle with basic-asswind, that's a rather important task that continues to go unaddressed despite being a necessity.
So, no strings attached government subsidies, zero oversight on power company monopolies, electric vehicle companies are raising prices to effectively cancel out any government subsidies while trying to squeeze in subscriptions to unlock the rest of the car you supposedly "bought," andnoneof this strikes these ecotards as the least bitodd?
We can't forget all of the mineral mining, which is a combo of being detrimental to the environment, typically entails highly dangerous work environments for either terribly underpaid orslavery-adjacent workers, including women and children, and has set off a new wave of that often deridedcolonialismas world powers compete over precious minerals ripe for the exploiting in third world nations.
But at least those precious minerals also go towards all of the $1000 phones that these self-righteous idiots use to tweet about how we're all destroying the planet.
As you said, we'd be better off looking at stopgap solutions like hybrids that maintain flexibility, and it's honestly crazy how the hybrid movement seems like a flash in the pan when a slow and steady adoption to test the waters makes the most logical and financial sense for everyone.
These short-sighted, chicken little chucklefukks have been successfully convinced that the oil lobby is the only big bad and is out to destroy the planet, all while a new round of snakes poise themselves to exploit the hell out of ignorance and fear.

There is a strong scientific consensus that the Earth is warming and that this warming is mainly caused by human activities. This consensus is supported by various studies of scientists' opinions and by position statements of scientific organizations, many of which explicitly agree with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) synthesis reports.
Nearly all actively publishing climate scientists say humans are causing climate change.[4][5] Surveys of the scientific literature are another way to measure scientific consensus. A 2019 review of scientific papers found the consensus on the cause of climate change to be at 100%,[2] and a 2021 study concluded that over 99% of scientific papers agree on the human cause of climate change.[3] The small percentage of papers that disagreed with the consensus often contain errors or cannot be replicated.[6]

The point I always bring up is that North America used to be under a massive 1+ mile thick ice sheet 20,000 years ago. How much warming and melting do they think had to happen to get it to recede back to the North Pole?
Or I ask them when they think the glaciers in the Alps or Cascades formed? They all think they're from the end of the last Ice Age when really they melted out long ago and came back during the Little Ice Age a few hundred years ago.

Because of all the extra crap involved in making an EV, you have to drive it for 70k miles before you offset the extra CO2 from it's manufacture when compared to an ICE vehicle.
People are replacing them after 50k miles and 3 years.
Those 3 year old EVs, which have done less than the 70k mile break even, sit at the dealership, as people aren't buying an EV with 50k miles on it when the battery has to be replaced after 100k miles or so.
The net result isgreaterCO2 and a massive problem of what to do with all these 3 year old cars that nobody wants to buy.
Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

There have been many other things that have been proven that will actually reduce pollution but not much attention has been given to them because some people can't make money off of it. Such as Work from Home. 4 day work weeks. Free trade also increases emissions. However, those things get in the was of the wealthy's money, and we can't have that.

from point to point its like 3.5k miles from tip of main to tip of cali. and a span of 600 miles had a cluster of hot weather. Which is a normal sized front of weather......
Every government and corporate intervention hasn't made anything better. Only way to make it better is if you change your lifestyle. IE plant a tree, walk more, grow your own food, etc etc.
Electric cars still have to mine metals, get shipped to have those raw metals processed, get shipped to have those processed metals installed into a battery, gets shipped to have those batteries isntalled into the car. Which those batteries get recharged off Diesel Generators, and a power grid thats mostly Coal burned.
Even vegan food is fed increased carbon to grow bigger and stronger.

I like how all I do is post crystal clear evidence that there is a scientific consensus on something and the KKKarenservatives get their panties in a bunch.
It's not my opinion. I don't believe in it. I understand it. That's science.

That's like this much...

It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.

Climate change is real and cyclical and there is nothing we can do about it. It's not a man-made issue. The political narrative is a hoax.

It's obviously climate change! We MUST end our dependency on fossil fuels! Now excuse me while I board my private jet to fly around the country.

Holy ****. Think about that.
Like, if you ask the average 6 year-old at a beach what's going to happen to their sandcastle by tomorrow and why and they'll tell you, but you think your meme of a ROCK PICTURE makes you smarter than literally every expert organiztation. The level of water on a beach is somehow a constant by which you can measure a global fluctuation. I don't even have words to describe the abject stupidity. It's completely insane. It doesn't even make enough sense that it's on the level of wrong yet.
Have you shown the people in coastal plains like Bangladesh your rock? I'm sure it'd convince them what they're experiencing from climate change isn't real.
lol forever.
