QQQ doing well right now. This boost could potentially mean another hike if markets hold up strongly before the meeting. Maybe another hike year end too. Big tech is about to become the entire market.

THIS lmao.

Definitely my biggest total dollars investment as far as the money I've put into my long term portfolio since 2016/2017.

Everything else went to the moon during covid, is now pennies in comparison.... All except NVDA, that is.

EDIT: My exit strategy is to dump it when JENSEN steps down, but this will be a very difficult stock to sell emotionally lol.

Anything under $100/share is so low at this point compared to what it used to be, I might as well hold to $0.

It's funny because UPST @ $300 was a WAAAYYYYYY better value for buying than it is currently @ $35 or whatever the fuk it is... If you showed me their quarterly reports now I'd laugh in your face for buying it @ $35.... Where if you showed me their quarterly reports back in the day, I'd say to buy it @ $300.

Watching their quarterly numbers go from being profitable and growing, to the dismal bleeder it is today is truly a sight to behold.

EDIT: BROS is actually still healthy.

EDIT 2: DOCS is actually still healthy, as well.

Yeah, like I said.... @ $66, it's like whatever, who cares.... And the delay for their earnings to turn to chit was WAY too late by that time the stonk had already collapsed relative to ATH's.

It's funny how investing psychology works.... @ $400/share I was stoked, and it was my largest position, and I figured if it dropped down to $200, I was still a huge winner.

Then it got to $100 and I was like, "meh, got my angus pounded, quarterly earnings now suck, but it's already pointless to sell."

then it got to $15 and I was like, "cool, now it's ENTIRELY irrelevant to my portfolio.... might as well hold to $0."

If you look at equifax/transunion/experian.... They have done "fine" which is what I would have expected to also happen with UPST.... But not even close, and they definitely fuked up somewhere.

WBA still dropping. I don't think they can keep paying their dividend as it stands. They've sold off a big part of their ABC stake which will hurt their earnings to pay their lawsuit and primary care purchases. Primary care isn't profitable for them yet either. They are forced to spend excessively to keep their pharmacies staffed too. Lots of OT and $25,000-$75,000 bonuses over 2 years getting paid to pharmacists. Other retail chains gonna put them in the dirt and PBM $$$ is about to dry up too as everyone realizes what a fking sham it is.

They did a 17 for 15 split and then 1 for 10. So it might have been roughly $1.97/share thus morning and then they converted 10 shares for 1.

So 10 shares @$1.97 becomes 1 share @$19.70

Stock nosedives 26% and you're at $14.43

You have profits??

Edit:
In all serious there is never really a reason to change your cost basis if you are profitable. Just forces you to pay taxes when you don’t need to. If you have losers feel free to sell em and harvest up to $3,000 in losses you can write off your income.

Also, for anyone who cares- I’m about to put my money where my mouth is and move from SGOV 1-3month treasury bills and shift into TLT which holds 20+ year bonds. Seems like a good move for holding something for 1-2 years. Likely gonna soak this month maaaaybe September at 5.5% in SGOV then start moving in $10,000 increments into TLT. Once they announce the fed is done hiking yields should drop fairly hard and I figure it’ll give a 5-10% move on face value. Gonna suck if they hike one more time and 30 year yields jump from 4.25 to closer to 4.75 and I end up eating a 10% loss on face value, but I think I can hold longer enough to wait for a recovery. I don’t think they can hold rates higher than 5% past 2024.

I pulled my Ibonds a couple weeks back since they were only getting 3%… got 8% overall for the year and 3 months they sat which is nice but 5.5% definitely better.

Jackson Hole takeaways:

-wants to maintain 2% inflation
-acknowledges inflation has moved down from peak but remains too high
-Prepared to raise rates
-reiterates 2% target
-Talks about "uncertainties"
-Explains what happens when they tighten too little (2-3 sentence)
-Explains what happens when they do too much (one Sentence)

I don't think he's cutting rates because inflation ain't at 2% yet. Said they were prepared to raise rates. Talked quite a lot about what happens if they "tighten too little".

JPOW definitely doesn't want what happened in the 1970's. Something will blow up probably after the 2024 election.

The guy is stuck between a rock and a hard place. I don't envy his job at all at the moment. He can't cut rates because he knows that inflation will sky rocket since dumb asses will take out free money to consume like no tomorrow. Additionally, commodities/oil are starting an uptrend due to lack of supply and he knows it'll be a headwind to the inflation goal in the not to distant future.

On the other hand, I think he also knows that we're getting close to something falling apart and raising rates can only do so much when we have supply issues. Actually, in a way it'll harm that end because it's raising the cost of capital and making it harder for us to invest and correct the supply-side issues.

If I were him, I'd hike maybe 1-2 more times and then pause for a good while and I think that's what he'll end up doing.

JPOW basically saying stop spending money you dont have or Ill keep raising rates until you lose your job and are forced to stop spending. Meanwhile congress is spending at record rates year after year and he is staying "independent". He is trying to keep a budget in line for a serial credit card swiper lmao, poor guy about to age like Obama in office.

now that I'm a midlifecel, I am thinking of trimming my BIGGEST individual stock holdings once or twice per year and moving the excess dollars to the S&P500 index....

for example, lets say in one account I have $80,000 in NVDA, and my second largest position is BROS with $60,000.... on January 10th, or whatever date of that year, I would sell off $20,000 of NVDA, and move it over to the S&P500 index...

Then let's say the following year on January 10th, my BROS is now worth $80,000, and my NVDA is worth $50,000.... I'll sell off $30,000 of BROS and move it to my S&P index fund.

in hindsight, if I had been doing this since I opened my IRA's.... I would be MASSIVELY ahead of where I am today.

This method would scrape excess cream off the top of certain positions when it might be doing an excessive rally.
