Officially moving to Colorado

Not sure how I feel tbh. I like my city and Denver is like 2x more expensive. More tech job opportunities at least.

What’s your thoughts on Denver area?

I avoid Denver whenever possible.

Denver is great if you like:

- Hordes of pretentious white liberals
- Hordes of homeless drug addicts
- Needles in the parking lot/garage
- Extremely expensive rent, food, drinks, cost of living in general

Denver received the liberals who despise Texas and Florida. Heard it has been ruined. Even the traffic there is terrible with these transplants. I would live on the outskirts if I was you.

look man, this is life experience talking and let me tell you, moving to a "new city" thats 2x as expensive as your current one is one of the worst financial moves you can make, unless you have a bad*** job and place to live all figured out.

sounds like you dont and if thats the case, that is one of the dumbest fukking things you can do. dont let the glamour of "denver" rope you in and you have to start all over no friends no family 1000 miles from home in a brand new city.

again, speaking from experience here. do not make emotional decisions when it comes to this stuff. if you feel you have to move to denver, do it with a plan.

i own a house about 1.5hrs away and had i not bought in 2020, there is no way id still be in colorado. way too expensive. way too much traffic. way too liberal to outweigh the benefits.

Real talk, I just moved to Colorado in April. I legit started looking for another job in another state after about a month and am moving back to where I was.

It's not a bad place, but it's not for me.

Lots of homeless/drug addicts. Rent is stupid high as well.

Years ago OP I did a similar move to LA area and lived in venice/marina del ray.

You quickly realize the things that drew you to that place fail in comparison to what it actually entails.

I moved back home not long after.

So don't be afraid to move there and try it, but also don't be afraid to understand you can move back or elsewhere too if you don't like it.

I’m moving for a job and I already have an apartment lined up (located in Centennial so away from most the druggies and homeless).

The job is decent pay. I sort of just ran out of options (been unemployed for many months because I was so picky job hunting that I basically cornered myself into accepting this offer)

The only attractive thing about Denver is the fact it’s a bigger tech hub by far than my current city. I don’t expect to stay in CO long term.

Would rep but on spread ;(

Yeah I felt like that when I first went down there to look at apartments. As I kid I remb CO being beautiful and the Mountain View stunning. As an adult, the novelty of the view quickly wore off and you see how bad some areas actually are (my first visit I stayed off E Colfax in Aurora) and it was just riddled with homeless, reckless drivers and poverty. The hotel I stayed in (nice hotel chain btw) had the lobby closed during business hours and you would have to be buzzed in after confirming your reservation (just goes to show how sketchy the area is)
