India has started dominating world javelin

A few years ago, Neeraj Chopra came out of nowhere to become the world junior record holder. Then he won the Olympics and now the world championship. Even more impressive is that Pakistan won the silver and there were two more Indians in the final.

This is insane that 4 south asians did this well when a few years ago there would have been zero representation whatsoever. Shows the power of copycatting. When one member of a group accomplishes something it kickstarts many more.

How do these throws compare to the world record for this event?

javelin is a weird event because they keep changing the actual javelin to reduce the distance it travels, to keep people from throwing it so far that injures a spectator.
so you can't make a direct comparison to previous eras. but the GOAT without question is the Czech Jan Zelezny

India actually did well in the sprints/relay categories. They have a chit ton of people and some of them are bound to be great athletes. It is funny to see a sprinter with a mustache.

yeah they did really well in the men's 4x400m to qualify for the final.

they also have a good long jumper who jumped 8.42 earlier this year

it'll be interesting to watch the progression from here
