Chicago mayor suing Hyundai and Kia for auto thefts...

Yep. Because they're easier to steal than other cars the mayor is suing them. It's their fault, not the fault of thieves apparently, with auto thefts up 104% over last year.

"The city of Chicago filed a lawsuit against automakers Kia and Hyundai on Thursday, alleging that a "critical defect" in the two companies' vehicles has contributed to a significant rise in car thefts in Chicago, Mayor Brandon Johnson announced."

This is normal. Companies get sued for not following regulations or for exposing their customers to unnecessary risks. This is necessary though I think those 2 already lost a class action lawsuit.
Is there no limit to what people will believe if it is prefaced by the phrase,
"Scientists say" ?

This is why so many people hate the Left. It would be normal if they had faulty airbags or didn't fix a known issue with seatbelts. But this is like suing stores that don't have alarm systems. This is not normal.

These cars are not equipped with push-button ignitions and immobilizing anti-theft devices. That has allowed thieves to easily steal them using just a screwdriver and a USB cord, creating a recent rash of auto thefts across the country.

Auto thefts are up 25% nationwide since 2019. They have TRIPLED (150% increase) in Chicago though. In other words 5 cars are stolen now nationwide compared to 4 stolen in 2019. In Chicago 12 are stolen now compared to 4 stolen in 2019. Even if Hyundais and Kias were stolen at the same rate as other autos and we pretend thieves wouldn't have stolen other vehicles more (yeah right) auto thefts would have still nearly doubled in Chicago. Consider why Walmart has abandoned the city.

This isn't normal. Gee what a coinkidink that Chicago is the first city to do this, though I wouldn't be surprised if San Francisco copies them.

The reality is-- dem city DAs let this slide, so it encourages more of the activity. Cracking down on the thieves is "racist," so therefore the problem must be with the automaker! Sue them and that will stop the problem!

Part of it is people see videos of how easily some cars can be stolen online. It's possible that information is spreading more in some places rather than others. Either way, even if you are right and chicago is what fox news told you it is, it's still not wrong for them to sue.

Should people whose homes are broken into be sued by the city?

What if you dont lock your KIA and it's still broken into, who should be sued? Because a locked door means the car manufacturers should be sued, so Im assuming an unlocked door means the owner?

Unless there is a law that states what type of protections a vehicle has to have, he doesn't have a case.
