Feels like fluids are filling up my knee when I squat (misc doctors GTFIH)

Can't do barbell squats anymore so I do hack squats or goblin squats w/ dumbbell.

Not sure how else to explain it but it feels like my knees fill with fluids when I do these movements. And then they start to get uncomfortable or hurt.

I can do leg press just fine tho.

Ruh roh, sounds like it's time to consider squatting less. Squats have to be one of the biggest scams for men. Minimum results, but so many injuries. Brb hemorrhoids out of nowhere. Brb knee joint injury. Brb small calves even though squatting the entire rack. What a pointless endeavor. Better to go mountain biking, srs.

See a physical therapist who lifts

Could be some muscle imbalance. Overactive vs dormant muscles, tight vs loose muscles

Could be patellar maltracking

Do you have a desk job?

Mountain biking is amazing, but squatting being a scam? Minimal results?

I’m don’t think there’s any better way to build leg strength.

Deadlift > Squats. You can build legs muscles and strength by cycling on elevated slopes, srs. Yes, they are minimum results visually. Even many juiced up guys look like they have chicken legs. Unless you have god-tier genetics it can look pretty silly. Deadlifts are exhausting, but squats are easily my most hated workout.

Hit the couch stretch and tell me if you feel immediate pain relief. Make sure your back foot is on the couch. Target your rectus femoris, not the psoas, though that might get hit too. Make sure it feels different than just a regular standinf quad stretch
