Just started preload; 117ish gb.

Played it a bit
some quick thots
- Graphics are very impressive. It feels like a next gen Bethesda game. I'm playing on PC 4K resolution with a mix of medium / high / ultra
- Performance seems ok thus far for me ... Not sure what frames are, but it feels smooth, however I did get an odd slow down here and there. It however feels 60
- The materials work on stuff is incredible. Very lifelike, all look distinct, the helmets, spacesuits and random junk are really well modeled.
- Character models look good
- The worldbuilding and lore is pretty damn cool so far, there's lots of things going on, being said and I'm trying to take it all in ... Quite overwhelming in a good sense
- Combat is servicable, it's a huge upgrade from Fallout and plays like a decent shooter ... But I'm worried how exactly this combat can be fun and fresh many hours in .... If I have to do keep shooting people for over 40 hours, it's gonna get old super quick.
What I don't like -
- I cant change my graphics resolution? It's stuck at 4k and I want to turn it to 1440p ... Does anyone know how to change it on PC?
- The tutorials are complete ASS ... It's not explained well at all. Some things are explained, but I really find that the game does an annoying job of telling me what I can do / what I need to do ... I'm kind of having to figure out things myself.
- The UI is horrid ... Like really bad ... Just everything from trying to sort out inventory, trying to get to menus and everything .... It just feels unintuitive compared to Skyrim / Fallout .... Maybe I just need to get used to it, but everything just feels like it takes way too many clicks and it feels really cumbersome
- The map is horrendous ... I don't even know if there is a map lol ... Trying to track quests or just figure out which quest I should go for feels extremely annoying
- Ship combat is boring and lame as fuk .... I don't wan to do this and I hope I'm not forced into it .... Like Todd dude, I don't care about ship combat, just let me explore, meet people and do interesting quests.
- Some of the character models can look pretty weird ... As I mentioned before, some look really good and others are Bethesda level nightmare fuel
- The lip syncing is pretty bad, not a huge deal, but hopefully they fix it.
I'm still very early into the game but I'm very positive about it and honestly I can wait to get back in and explore some more. So far this seems like a solid entry and new IP from Bethesda.
Between this and BG3 ... I'm in heaven.

Completely agree about the map and UI. Surely they'll make a better map, this thing is terrible.
Disagree about the combat though, the weapons feel different and the audio is great. It's a lot better than I thought it would be.

And it's gonna be a while before we see a game as good as BG3.
I haven't played enough of starfield to give it an actual proper score .... But based on first impressions it's a 7 or 8 /10 for me. It seems very promising and fun, but I also see some really annoying stuff and we all know for a fact that Bethesda is trash and lazy when it comes to fixing their games or listening to the community, so I don't see any of the major issues/gripes being fixed without user mods.

How are you guys juggling the side quests and main quest?
Running around with the British sloot now, don't really want to hang out with the other 3 from the troupe.
I'm finding it very hard to sell or all the stuff I've collected.

If you've played Witcher 3, you have the world map, but imagine when you go to Novigrad or Sekllige you lose the map and just have a compass.
Also, you have to activate this compass and it limits your movements in the game.
It's pretty bad. I'm sure someone can explain it better.

Like Bongso said, the UI is terrible. But it's not gamebreaking. It would just be nice if console brahs got some options to make changes to it like in other games.

Been playing since release last night and it’s amazing.
It’s only getting better with progression. It’s a very slow start and if you aren’t into Bethesda games then skip it. This will be their best game imo, the graphics and story so far are both 9/10’s.
As far as bugs I’ve had basically zero in 8 hrs of play time on Xbox Series X. The only real issue for me so far are the companions being in the way here and there but not so much so that it’s unbearable.
Overall I’d give it an 8.5/10 (so far). The biggest let down imo is the actual ship and space exploration being more limited than I’d like. With that being said, they’ve made it very convenient to fast travel basically everywhere. I’ve seen “walking simulator” reports and I haven’t experienced that at all.
TLDR 8.5/10 for now at 8 hrs in. It is just my personal opinion so far and I believe this will be a srs contender for goty.
