$200k income now not enough to buy a home

JFC if I was a zoomer I’d be rioting

https://www.news.com.au/finance/real...e9de9374977054

“Even high income households, earning $200,000 or more a year, could only afford to own about half the number of homes sold in 2022/23.”

Below average home in Sydney = probably condemned and not safe for habitation

Or, at least they love their rental payments

Tbf government regulations and deadweight taxes are a big reason why houses are unaffordable

By the time you bring even a modest townhome to the market the buyer is paying $200-300k in embedded taxes

Plus the fact that the price has been artificially inflated by restricted supply

Yeah crazy times. Brother in law was contemplating raiding his 401k just to by an actually dilapidated house on the worst part of town - he doesn't make crazy money (like 70k i think), but in the United States, 70k should be enough to buy a beat up home surrounded by actual criminals and halfway houses.

Understand you are just rubbing it in to the golden bull etc and that you are the proudest homeowner ever in existence.

But in all seriousness, what should a rentard do in 2023?

No need for rental payments. You can impose an eviction moratorium while collecting 100% of real estate taxes!
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Reminds me of the miscer that sold two houses in 2019 and became a rentard

He doesn’t post anymore because he probably committed suicide

Must have seen that as the easiest way out, rather than living the rest of his life rentarded

Maybe this will discourage immigrants from flooding into the country if they realize the cost of housing is so steep. Probably not but might as well shoot for positive thinking
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Immigrants probably have a higher tolerance for debt and risk considering they have seen the other side of the fence. Add that ontop of a better work ethic in general and a tendency to stuff as many generations and or people into a house as legally possible and you've got stiff competition.

Yep Indians will have 4+ working adults contributing to the mortgage in those expensive cities where even 2 high earning adults isn't enough to afford a home. Non-immigrants are not going to pool money as a big group like that, or way less likely to do that.

Sounds like life never really gets easier...always new people/votes looking to get in that are hungrier and willing to do more for what you have. Maybe that's how they want it. And maybe we peaked back in the 50s or whatever when society was more homogenous and you could make it on one person's salary.

Lol, yeah in late 2019 I was getting ready to potentially buy a Condo in 2020, then once Covid happened I haven't really even considered it since. Just doing my thing, somewhat going through the motions but it's actually a pretty liberating feeling.

At least you can actually make 200k in Australia lol
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."
