Just found out I have no sperm (srs)

Cliffs-
-Trying for kids long time.
-Zero Sperm count from test
-Undergo Micro Surgery to locate sperm, none found
-OP learns he inherited chromosome balanced translocation which means men who get it don’t reproduce

-OP crushed and doesn’t know what to do next in life.

If there's any plus side to this, you never have to pull out again.

That's a win.

So I don't understand this - is it a genetic mutation?

How can something like this be inherited? A genetic inheritance that ends a bloodline can't be transmitted to the next generation.

Somebody explain how this works, I'm genuinely curious srs.

That’s a tragic thing to learn, OP. I’m really sorry

Would you be interested in adopting, or would your girlfriend/wife be interested in a sperm donor? You can still be a father.

A balanced chromo****l translocation in a male occurs when two different chromosomes exchange segments without gain or loss of genetic material. This can happen spontaneously during cell division or may be inherited from a parent who carries the translocation.

When a balanced translocation affects genes involved in spermatogenesis (the process of sperm production), it can lead to infertility in males. This happens because during the formation of sperm, the genetic material is shuffled and divided into sperm cells. If the translocation disrupts important genes or regulatory regions needed for normal sperm development, it can result in the production of non-functional or genetically abnormal sperm. As a result, the affected individual may have difficulty or an inability to produce viable sperm, leading to infertility.

It's important to note that not all balanced chromo****l translocations cause infertility, and the specific genetic factors involved in the translocation and their impact on spermatogenesis can vary widely from case to case. Genetic counseling and consultation with a reproductive specialist are often necessary for individuals with such translocations who are trying to conceive.

A chromo****l translocation can occur at different points in an individual's life or during the development of an embryo. Here are some common scenarios:

De Novo Translocations: These translocations occur spontaneously during cell division, often when the DNA replication process has errors. De novo translocations can happen at any point in a person's life, and they are not inherited from parents.
Inherited Translocations: Some individuals inherit balanced chromo****l translocations from their parents. In these cases, the translocation is present in the germline (sperm or egg cells) of one of the parents, and it can be passed on to the offspring.
Embryonic Development: Translocations can also occur during the early stages of embryonic development. These are not inherited but are present in some cells of the individual's body. This is known as ****tic mosaicism, where some cells have a normal chromosome arrangement, while others have the translocation.
The timing of the translocation can have implications for its effects. If it occurs early in embryonic development, it might affect a larger portion of the body and potentially cause more widespread health issues. If it happens later or only in specific tissues, it might have more localized effects.

Regardless of when a translocation occurs, its impact on health and development depends on which specific genes are involved and how they are affected by the rearrangement of chromosomes. Genetic counseling and medical evaluation are often necessary to understand the implications of a chromo****l translocation in an individual's specific case.

OP - Your current best option is to adopt. I would 100% do that in your situation. You can still have an impact on the future.
