Did my 12-Team PPR draft last night. 4 point passing TDs. Fantasy Pros has me pretty highly rated but Yahoo gave me an F for some reason. I took Bryce in the last round as a maybe keeper for next year.

Going to try and trade JJ away. Its a keeper league but I can only keep one player twice. This is the last year and he goes on the open market.
I basically abandoned the RB till late but hope to trade JJ for one and another WR or QB.

I’m leaning towards keeping JJ, but I feel like his production will drop with Addison and Hock there full time now and I have both those guys.

I think I'll just keep him. We do a auction draft so next year I have to give him back to the pool but that doesn't mean I can't go all in for him again and then have him for 3 more years. I think that's that deal. Plus if Addison or any of those younger WRs pan out, I can trade one of them away.
I think I'll wait for a couple weeks and see how these this unfolds before trading him.
Plus I always have purple shades on, Love JJ on every level.

see how it goes week 1. everyone is going to completely overreact, probably this year more than ever before just because that's how the world is. if you grab rookies like that you have to assume a few weeks of quiet time. keep an eye on their snap counts.

Did my last draft last night in my friends league. 12T 0.5 PPR 6 pt passing TD: 1 QB/2 RB/2 WR/1 TE/1 Flex.
Round Player Position PickNo
1 Chase, Ja'Marr WR 2
2 Smith, DeVonta WR 23
3 Gibbs, Jahmyr RB 26
4 Burrow, Joe QB 47
5 Hall, Breece RB 50
6 Cook, Dalvin RB 71
7 Montgomery, David RB 74
8 Dotson, Jahan WR 95
9 Jeudy, Jerry WR 98
10 Flowers, Zay WR 119
11 Pittsburgh Steelers DST 122
12 Musgrave, Luke TE 143
13 Johnson, Juwan TE 146
14 Love, Jordan QB 167
15 Warren, Jaylen RB 170
16 Boswell, Chris K 191
QB: Burrow, Love
RB: Gibbs, Hall, D. Cook, Montgomery, Warren
WR: Chase, Devonta, Dotson, Jeudy, Flowers
TE: Musgrave, Juwan
DST: Pitt
K: Boswell
I like it. At RB, I control both the Jets and Lions backfields, even though I had to reach a little for Gibbs. My hope is that Gibbs and Breece are both RB1s by the fantasy playoffs, but even if they don't pan out as expected, both teams should have good offenses and should be in the race right to the end, so if Hall and/or Gibbs isn't it, Cook and/or Monty should be. Worst case, all four guys have at least RB2/flex standalone value if both teams keep a committee all season. I took Chase & Devonta first, so my starting WR slots are solid, and between Dotson, Jeudy, and Flowers, I should have a playable flex all season. Since this is a 6 pt passing TD league along with only 0.5 PPR, QB's are relatively more valuable and go earlier (Mahomes was taken #4 overall...), so, while I had to take a QB earlier than I would in most other scoring formats, it's because of the league scoring so it's fine. Teams started drafted QB2s in round 8, and I got Love in round 14, who is a fine backup with upside. For some reason, TEs are always overdrafted in this league and I always seem to be boxed into a TE zero type strategy. I took Musgrave and Johnson late in the draft as TD-upside dart throws. Hopefully one emerges. Kittle and Goedert went in round 4, Engram and Freiermuth in round 7, and even Njoku in the 8th. That's way too early for those guys with the quality of WRs and RBs still out there plus the need to take a top tier QB early in this league.
Entering the draft, I wanted to target the Lions RB stack and figured I'd probably have to reach for Gibbs at the start of the 3rd to do it and then grab Montgomery at 6 or 7. But then, when I was picking at 23, both Devonta, and Olave were on the board (who I value generally equally) with only one person in between my 2nd and 3rd picks (picking twice of course), and I was willing to abandon the Lions RB stack if I could figure out a way to get both. Being in Philly, I took Devonta hoping the guy would leave me Olave, but he took Olave and Ridley at the 2/3 turn, so it's really unlikely there was any way to steal both guys and I pivoted back to the Lions backfield stack. At the next turn, I was planning on targeting Herbert or Lawrence as my starting QB, but Burrow surprisingly made it to me, so I grabbed him instead (I have Burrow just slightly ahead of the other two, but close). I really like the Burrow/Chase stack. At 5, I was kind of shocked Breece Hall was still on the board, and I couldn't pass him up, so at that point, I pivoted to try to stack the Jets RBs, too and wasn't going to let Cook fall and miss out this time, so I took both committee mates at my next turn at 6/7. After I secured my backfields, I needed to look for WR value picks and Dotson, Jeudy (who fell all the way to the start of the9thand might actually play this week...), and Flowers were the best guys there. At the 12/13 turn, it was time to make my TE dart throws. We'll see. I really like Johnson in particular. Musgrave is more of a pure upside pick, but his ceiling is sky high even if his floor is riskier.
I love Chase and several real value picks fell to me in Breece and Jeudy at 5 and 9. I only need to wait and see how the backfields shake out in Det and NY, so I'll be playing the guessing game for the first couple weeks, but it should settle down eventually, hopefully with Hall and Gibbs emerging as the 1. For this week, I'm starting both Det backs. I think tonight will be a shootout, and the Det backs are more complementary in their skill sets and should both be featured. I have Dotson in the flex, leaving Jeudy a week or two to fully heal and show me something before I pivot over to him.
Thoughts?

-that seems mega early for Devonta smith. am i way off? he fell to the 4th in my 10 team and the 3rd in my 12 team. i guess guys just are skeptical to take a (albeit super talented) real-life WR2 as a top tier WR1 in fantasy. I would've gone Olave there instead, i see you're a Philly person though.
-totally get securing full backfields but it would be a bit frustrating to me to have to spend 4 draft picks in the first 7 rounds on what will likely be two starting roster spots
-i'm with you on Gibbs. he's become quite expensive but I am buying in on him and Bijan this year. when in doubt i am willing to bet on young talent at the RB spot, more than any other position in football.
-Burrow-Chase connect is obviously awesome
i mean look every single roster right now in fantasy looks great. everyone's mostly healthy, everyone's got promise, everybody thinks they know who the good teams in real life are going to be.

I take my ADP data from the high stakes drafts compiled here:
https://nfc.shgn.com/adp/football
Filtered to the last week for 12 teams. Devonta's ADP is 22.1 and I took him 23, so that's pretty much where he's going in high stakes drafts. Olave is right ahead of Devonta at 20.8.
Edit: At 6 & 7, I already had 2 starting WRs, 2 starting RBs, and a QB, so unless I reached for a third tier TE like Engram or Freiermuth, I was going to be drafting flex/bench players, not starters, anyway. I'm fine with flexing Monty and starting Gibbs if it comes to that, but the WRs I ended up getting in 8-10 were great values for the flex spot anyway. That was the benefit of stacking Det and NYJ backfields - the "backups" aren't just handcuffs, Monty and Cook both should have flex-level standalone value.
Edit2: I just looked at the league, and another guy did the same thing with his RBs, although with lesser backfields in later rounds, taking Jones/Dillon, and Kamara/Jamal in 3/8 and 6/9 respectively. I'd much rather control the Det and NYJ backfields than GB and NO, although there is a valid ROI argument there at cost comparatively. Those are two more teams where the "backup" is a flex-worthy play himself.

see how it goes week 1. everyone is going to completely overreact, probably this year more than ever before just because that's how the world is. if you grab rookies like that you have to assume a few weeks of quiet time. keep an eye on their snap counts.

Achane is a bench hold for now, but a great upside stash for the second half of the season given the injury history for Mostert and Wilson.
QB:Fields
WR: Lamb
WR: Samuel
RB: Barkley
RB: Robinson/Charbonnet
TE: Waller
Flex: Ridley/Pittman Jr/ Zay Flowers

On another note, something inside me is making me want to start Jared Goff over Prescott for another one of my teams.

Goff vs Chiefs without Chris Jones is going to have a monster week.

Looks good though. Only player I don't like rostering is a bench QB but some leagues it's necessary if other managers are hoarding QBs.

If I get to the tail end of the draft and still see value in the other positions, I'm OK skipping on the backup QB, too, but that's rare. Warren was the best value left there by far, but I was able to still get him 3 picks later anyway.I think the most surprising pick is Warren lasting the whole way to 170.
