Question for the Father's on misc and Financial bros
Any of you guys plan to make sure your son goes to University and joins a Fraternity?
Forget the party stigma but to join one from the right reasons. My father always preached the importance of that to me join frat, make friends that last a life time, open doors later in life.
It's right at the top of my last
For the financial miscers. Any advice on what I can do to make sure when he turns 18 that money is there waiting for him cause I font want him to be in the position of going in debt for his education . I want something that will.mature over the next 15 years and be guaranteed for him.

Buying friends is a bad idea for 99% of people especially with how narcissistic everyone is now. If he joins a frat nowadays he's probably going to be groomed into a homosexual. He has to open his own doors.
CDs or High Yields.
Best way to protect him is to make him work early and earn everything. It'll teach him to value what he will study and protect him from becoming a liberal.

I dont see it as buying friends. He is going to have to have a good head on his shoulders by the time he even gets there or it will all be for naught anyways but while i want those doors to be open for him it's also important he learn he's has to earn the right to get through the doors.
I just got to make sure he has the money to get there

Those frats used to connect legacy people long-term in a society that didn't have social media dopamine generators.
Times are different now bro, need to develop new skills to tackle the clown world.

Frat/Sorority benefits kind of depend on what field they want to go in. For example, if they want to go into the medical field, there is likely very little benefit. However, if they get a generic business degree, there is a huge benefit potentially.
*Edit to add - I finished school in '96 and never joined a Frat, however, was friends with a lot of Frat brothers from different houses. Can't tell you what it is like today.
I am a pretty firm believer that it's not necessarily what you know but who you know as long as who you know doesn't think you're a dumb ****.
There are tax free savings plans out there. 529 savings plan. The growth isn't taxed as long as it's used the way they want. Start now. School's expensive. I have a Sophomore at U of Iowa (our of state for me) tuition adds up quick.

You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

My oldest is only in second grade and to be honest haven't really planned as well as I might have thought. But in my opinion, I'd rather have my kids monetize a hustle early on and grow it from the ground up and if they want to get a degree online, we'd support it. I live in a big college town, and while I don't see a whole lot of the antics, I do speak with a number of the students and hear a lot of stories from a few instructors about the environment and I tell you it's absolutely dogchit. I feel like the whole college landscape is going to be completely different in 15 years or so and don't think it's going to get better. I'm mainly talking about the dumbing down of the material and the dipchit instructors and students more than anything.
