If Pete Rose was reinstated in Baseball would you

Hire him to be the GM?

I'm not even going to ask if he belongs in the HOF. It's been asked.

If roid head cheaters can get in he deserves to be and while hes on the right side of the dirt

I believe in 2nd chances, and although betting on your own games is bad, it isn't a deal breaker for me.

Agreed. The only thing that would make.me feel different is if he bet against his team and sabotaged games. But he loves the game and the reds too much to do that. Not to mention loyalty to his players

You can bet your team to win but still sabotage games - there was some evidence on how he used his bullpen to save certain guys for games he had money on

I might be a little skeptical on this one. I know he bet on his team and not against it, but you're walking a pretty thin line when bringing someone in who arguably has, or had, a gambling problem.

I'd be more inclined to let him play as a player because he demonstrated how talented he could be on the field. As a GM he has no track record and even if you think he would only be betting on his team, it really isn't worth the risk to bother with it when you don't even know if he'd be a quality GM. There's more temptation to overlook that risk as a player though because you know he's good (assuming he was in his prime playing shape in this analogy of course).

It would definitely give baseball a shot in the arm . Any team he went to to manage you can bet (no pun intended) that TV ratings and attendance would go up dramatically.

Bro no one is filling the seats because of a new GM, especially if the GM puts together a team that's trash.

Baseball is chit because parents and families fukking suck.

Go try and put kids through little league. I threw in my coaching mit and my kids are waiting until school sports kicks in. We can train with clinics and stuff. Kids sports and the parents/coaches involved are night mares atm. Too many years with no support, having to take over head coach role, and having to herd peoples kids all practice while their fgt parents stare at their cell phones miscing.

Baseball used to be americas sport. Every neighborhood had their neighborhood team. Little league is a chit show and there’s no more Americana to the game.

Funny cuz when I was a kid I had a full grasp of the sport from little league before pony league was even available.

And then parents take it way to fukking far with things like shaved bats for their kids and focusing on being winners and winning and win at all cost. At the age kids should just be learning love for the game.

And we sit and wonder how places like Houston end up as a bastion of disgrace. Astros should have been fukking disbanded.

Only reason we’re even having this conversation about Pete rose is because we just accept baseball is filled with cheating scum and betting on games “meh”

Not everyone has Pete rises drawing power. Yeah I do think it would boost the ratings and attendance at least for the first year or two and see how it went

Came in to say something along these lines. I'm sure Pete Rose wasn't the only one betting on games and I'd be willing to bet it's still going on today. He definitely should not be banned from the game. But I do not think a person of his judgement and demographic would be good making decisions about contracts.

don't think id put him in an advisary role. i would maybe gamble on hitting coach but would def. keep a watchful eye

idk if he's good at discovering talent but a role like that seems good
