Anybody else have kids that like to hide in little containers? I have a bunch of photos from over the years. Kids squeezing into cupboards, under the bed, etc. This was over the weekend. Youngest was hiding under a box. See the hair poking out on the left?



The box had a cutout. View from the side.



Four is a super fun age.

Who's up for more funny pictures of kids? I understand worrying about detectives. Neither my wife nor I post on social media, so I guess I'm lucky in that regard. I know I have more pictures of kids in tight spaces, but when I was looking I came across these first. These are around 10 years old, so these kids are all a lot bigger. Oldest boy on the left in the first pic turns 17 next month and is at least 6'3". Back in the day every time I went to home depot the kids always wanted to come. Once when we were there, I joked about putting me head in a toilet. My kids copied me, of course. For the next couple years every time we went and walked past the toilet seats, they always posed with them.

Probably my last hurrah for the summer with my kids before they go back to school. My oldest son and I climbed Mt. Borah, the highest point in Idaho. I've wanted to do it for years, but haven't had someone to go with me. My son will be a senior this year and is in shape for running high school cross country. I decided it was time.

Final climb to the peak:


Pictures really don't do it justice as far as how it looked from a distance. It was steep. Him and me in front of the sign on top:



Same kids in the top toilet pic above, far left. Blink and you'll miss it guys, they grow up fast.

Thanks buddy. Neither of us is really scared of heights, but neither of us has much experience with them in the mountains either. The part that bothered me most was actually the stretch immediately before the ridge on the stretch climbing the rocks leading up to it. The ridge itself wasn't bad for either of us. We just took it slow and got it done. I asked him at one point, right around where we were first getting into some exposure whether he wanted to go back if he wasn't comfortable and he said let's do it, so we did. I was really proud of him. Plenty of kids and old ladies do it every year, but it was outside our comfort zone and we didn't let it stop us (plus some of the ladies are animals) . Going back down the rope off the nose of chicken out ridge was gone, so we slid down the chute to the right and took the trail under the ridge. Neither of us are climbers and I didn't want to try the nose of the ridge without a rope. Other than the slide down, it was easier than the ridge. The slide wasn't too bad for just the two of us, but it wouldn't be good with a bigger group and I wouldn't want to go that route in reverse and have to climb the chute. We weren't super fast but made decent time. We were the last to start at the trailhead but probably beat half of those that summited back to the lot.

For the unawares, there is an exposed ridge section along the hike called "Chicken Out Ridge" because it's the point where a lot of people turn back. If you don't have some experience with rock climbing, it looks a bit intimidating on the approach:



Up closer (the route is right across the top):



It's not sheer cliffs on either side, but it's steep. This is my son on top of the ridge. The top is plenty wide, although there are a few spots you have to drop off the top to get around obstacles. It's more about the "feel" if you're not used to heights. On the day we summited, we passed 6 or 8 people that turned back.

The other night I broke out in tears because my 2 year old is now potty trained. He just up and one day came running ass naked through the house and went a pooped in his 3 year old sisters little penguin training potty. So later that day, I was putting a night time diaper on his for a nap and my wife said "honey, he doesn't need it anymore. Remember?" And I thought dang I'll never put a diaper on my little B(name redacted) ever again. Broke me too pieces

Nice bump guys. Been a super busy summer and now we're into fall sports. I have a son and daughter running high school cross country and a middle school son playing soccer. Good times.

My little dude is a trip. Mother in law got him a barbell toy and he picks it up and grunts then throws it, makes me laugh everytime.
He also started pushing his toy cars around making vroom sounds and that made my day too.

Nice man. My son has been trying to ride his toy bus down the stairs.
