What a fuking athlete. Forget GOAT of tennis, this guy is now closing in on GOAT of all sports.

Like you pointed out, if he wasn't robbed of 4 slams he'd be heading for 30. And despite that, he continues to dominate even with the intense pressure and critique during the Covid era. I can't think of any other athlete that's had so much resentment, hate and scrutiny against him and still continued to destroy all his competition.

The GOAT without question, he's so far ahead of the other 2 it's laughable to even debate it anymore.
Nah, DjoKovid has been getting cakewalk slams since 2018, hence why he's won most of his slams in the latter half of his career.

Federer is still the GOAT, and his peak is undoubtedly higher than Mole's the vulture

No doubt Djoker is a mental giant and is the goat, even though I prefer watching Federer or Alcaraz type players due to their attacking style. My goodness, did anyone else feel like they were watching a clay court match yesterday with how slow those balls were?

The new generation needs to watch videos of Wawrinka-Djokovic matches for the blueprint on how to completely wreck Djokers defense. He doesn’t get nearly enough credit for how he was basically the only one to take down a peak Novak on hard courts.

You'll see what you want to see. Let's define outright domination as winning 3 slams in a year.

Djokovic (4) 2011, 2015, 2021, 2023.
Federer (3) 2004, 2006, 2007.
Nadal (1) 2010.

No one has dominated more than Djokovic over the last 12 years and his record against the other two in that time says it all.

Nadal hasn't taken a single set off Novak on a hard court in TEN YEARS.0 wins vs. Novakoff clayover an entire decade.

Yeah, the GOAT debate is settled, it's Djokovic.
You know when Djokovic just won another slam. This thread is dead quiet.

From Wikipedia:
[ul][li]Djokovic was scheduled to play the 2022 Australian Open, but his visa was cancelled for being unvaccinated against COVID-19.[/li]
[li]The event of 2020 Wimbledon was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[/li]
[li]Djokovic was disqualified from the 2020 US Open after accidentally hitting a line official with a ball that was not in play.[/li]
[li]Djokovic withdrew from the 2022 US Open due to the federal government's COVID-19 vaccination policy for non-US citizens.[/li]
[/ul]Robbed of 4 slams right there and should be closing in on 30. What a mental titan.

A couple of months ago after narrowly losing to a redlining Alcaraz many were predicting his demise. The man just won his 3rd slam of the year and has surely locked in another year end No. 1. Next stop is Oz where he's undefeated in 10 finals.

[img]https://i.imgur.com/jH7nKU4.jpg[/ig]
Not everybody comes here to have the same retarded goat debate after every single slam.

We just had a great slam final and set of semis and there's hardly any talk about the actual matches itself lmao. Nobody is talking about how Medvedev messed up that set point and it looked like Djoko was about to be physically done towards the end of the 2nd set. Just this retarded goat chit, don't you ph4ggots ever get tired of yourself?

When a match is interesting I'll discuss it. Alcaraz is a more interesting matchup for Djokovic right now.

Yeah man, those first 10 Grand Slam wins for Federer were really something else! Beating Roddick 3 times on top of all time greats like Marcos Baghdatis, Fernando Gonzalez, Mark Philippoussis, etc. really proves how amazing and dominant Federer was!!

Oh yeah, I think he beat a near 40 year old Andre Agassi during that period as well LMAO. So tough!

I like Djoko the least of the big 3 but there's no debate anymore.
Take away his "cakewalks" vs Berrettini, Ruud, Anderson, Tsitsipas (AO) and he still has as many slams as Fed.
Not to mention Fed had the following layups: Philippoussis, Hewitt, Baghdatis, Gonzo, Soderling.

And yet those players from Fed's era would completely wreck the players of today. Imagine thinking Kyrgios, Ruud, Rublev, or Tsitsipas are better LOL

The delusion is next level.

The longer you look at Federer's GS history, the more you come away unimpressed. The majority of his wins came at the beginning of his career against who exactly? Roddick? You're making fun of Ruud who at only 24 years of age has played in 3 GS finals already, meanwhile Andy Roddick has a whopping 4 GS finals appearances in his entire career.

The middle part of Federer's GS run features a losing record to Nadal.

The end part of Federer's GS run features a losing record to Djokovic.

Djokovic's first 10 GS wins contain 3 against Nadal and 3 against Federer. That is 60% coming against two other legends at their peak. Once again, go look at who Federer beat for his first 10 wins. It's an absolute joke.

By the way, late stage Federer also had 2 GS wins against Marin Čilić. Čilić has played in only 3 GS finals and won once against mighty Kei Nishikori in what was one of the flukiest GS tournaments in recent memory (Čilić and Nishikori were the two lowest ranked seeds to reach the US Open finals since 2002). Once again, Casper Ruud will prove to have a more successful career than Čilić.

All you need to do is compare the GS records against the 3 legends when playing each other to see who has the more impressive resume:

Djokovic: 8 GS title wins against Nadal/Federer (33.3% of all GS wins)
Federer: 4 GS title wins against Djokovic/Nadal (20% of all GS wins)

Nadal actually has the most impressive record in the above as he has 10 GS wins against Djokovic/Federer (45.4% of all GS wins), but that number is skewed due to his utter dominance at the French Open.

Either way, it should be clear to anyone with a brain that it's Djokovic #1 and Nadal #2. Federer has no claim whatsoever. I'm sorry, Mirka.

Look at ultimate tennis statistics. They even know Fed is above Nadal. Nadal hasn't beaten geriatric Fed in literally any match after 2014 LOL

Also just look at the strokes. Djokovic has literally no stroke that's better than Fed other than his 2hbh

Nothing wrong with having a preference. Prime Federer played some of the most incredible attacking tennis the game has seen and if Uncle Toni didn't make Nadal play as a lefty he would have been losing to Federer back then like everyone else.

However if you want to look at things clinically, going just by numbers, Novak has eclipsed Roger in every metric worth discussing.

Djoker is by far the GOAT.

Theres no argument anymore.

Look how long he's held the #1 spot
Look how many championships he has that arent Grand Slams
Look at his career head to head record against Nadal and Fed.

Nadal is the greatest clay court player ever but Djoker is the best of all time.

And if you really wanted to go this route you could argue Djoker would have even more if it wasnt due to covid and that silly ruling where he got kicked out of the US open for hitting the lady with the ball accidently

As far as the match against Medvedev. Djoker always comes up with big serves when it matters. Its so hard to break him, and he's such a good returner its unbelievable. Medvedev tried to beat djoker at his own game which is baseline play and ground strokes which doesnt work. I also dont understand why Danil played so far back on his return of serve. Djoker capitalized big time on that by pulling him wide. The way to beat Djoker is by being able to come in and volley. Alcaraz will do that much better. Djoker's only weakness I see are lobs and drop shots. He still hasnt mastered that drop shot yet

It actually seemed like it was pretty much working and he was about to break Djoko in the 2nd set and then just steamroll him physically. A combination of Medvedev just not being able to close it out on the big points and Djoko fighting like a champ through those last few games and the tiebreak made it so Djoko only just edged out the second set. After that Medvedev just completely folded.

Who knows how it would've gone if Medvedev managed to make it 1-1 and confidently start the 3rd set? At some point the live betting odds were almost even.

Someone's triggered. Tuga created this thread as a Nadal fan 10 years ago, long before you and your buddy showed up, conveniently when Nadal came out of his 2015-2016 slump.

I took a while to warm to Djokovic. He's a lot like Lendl was in the 80s when he crashed the McEnroe/Connors party. Over time when he came back from that hugging hiatus I climbed on the bandwagon and began to appreciate his clinical style. 2019 he iced the cake by winning all 3 tiebreaks in that Wimbledon final in the face of a crowd that was 99.9% pro Federer. The man has a massive set of balls your Bull could only dream of possessing. He's never had to win big matches with a crowd against him.

However the are more important things than tennis and what happened in Oz and the way he stood up to this corrupt government while Nadal sank the boot in — and then cashed in when he was booted out — followed by his refusal to be bullied into taking a therapeutic that one of the fittest people on the planet had no business taking, and the way he got revenge for being denied US entry by Biden for the same reason... well yeah this guy has earned my full respect and then some. He's soared higher than Federer ever did.

Your saltiness is a sight to behold. Keep it coming.

Spoiler!

I don't care about any of the vax stuff. Over the recent years, I've moved from Federer to Djokovic as the GOAT because Djokovic has continued to add to his resume with no end in sight and has clearly passed everyone else now. The GOAT of tennis definitely is not a one trick pony clay court specialist. fckin lol.

That "vax stuff" cost him 2 slams. I admire the way he returned here after being deported and won it. Ditto for the US Open after a stupid rule for non citizens denied him entry last year.

But you're right. If you want to buy into the GOAT debate you can't give it to the guy who's racked up nearly 2/3 of his slams on a surface the top players only compete on for around 2 months a year. Hard court is the great equalizer and Nadal just doesn't cut it.

HC slams
Djokovic 14
Federer 11
Nadal 6

Wimbledon is the biggest tournament in the sport and Nadal was a complete non factor from 2012-2017 — for 5 years in his absolute prime he couldn't reach the QF, losing to scrubs outside the Top 100 like Rosol, Darcis, Dustin Brown, Muller + 19yo Kyrgios.

He's also never won the ATP Finals and only reached the final twice. Even Zverev found a way to win it not once but twice. Hard to overlook that one.

After that Medvedev just completely folded.

Who knows how it would've gone if Medvedev managed to make it 1-1 and confidently start the 3rd set? At some point the live betting odds were almost even.
Med was -125 when he had set point in the 2nd set. That was a nearly 2 hour set and Med was completely deflated after. With his A game he was looking like a bit too much for Novak if he could maintain it.

Haha yes sir, good times. I remember how we would all go back and forth debating Nadal vs Federer. Respect to you because as one of the most die hard Fed fans you've had the objective thinking capacity and emotional control to recognise Novak is the best. The Covid backlash and standing up for freedom of choice only adds to his greatness and increases my respect for him WAY beyond Fed and Nadal but even without it, he's still the best.

It's obvious who has no emotional control and just allows subjective thinking to take over. Novak is so far ahead now you can spot the triggered ones a mile away.
There is but one path....we kill them all.

Numbers are objective, interpreting them and turning that into a random conclusion that fits your narrative is very subjective. It's laughable to pretend tennis has an objective factual GOAT. Maybe some sports pretty much do because the difference with the number two is so big it's widely agreed upon. There is no consensus at all in the world of tennis, not even close.

"BBC Sports Poll voted Roger Federer the Greatest of All Time with 56% of the vote, followed by Novak with 37% and Rafael Nadal with 7%. In a YouGov poll, Australians and tennis fans voted Roger Federer the greatest ever male tennis player with 56% and 68% of the votes, respectively."
