kinda starting to understand why so many people are fat/alcoholics/drug users/porn addics/videogame addicts/etc

I think most the time it just gets boring and repetitive and starts to feel like a chore, which is why starting a new job is usually fun.

Never really talked to anyone that loves their job. But apparently people that do congregate on the misc...along with those that make $300-400k/year and have net worths of $10M+. Shrug.

Jobs have always sucked. Its the lack of fulfillment in other areas of life that screw you over

I’d say I enjoy about 5% of what I do.

I get burned out sometimes but don't hate my job. It allows for a lot of freedom and is pretty low stress overall compared to other jobs that pay comparatively.

Jobs are a means to an end for 99% of people.

If you're working retail, you just need some extra money quick, will reject growth in the company (unless you feel it can indirectly help your career), and long for the day to submit a notice. Or you're retired and do it part time because you "need something to do."

If you're working in a trade, or an officecel, you're either doing your time to qualify for a higher level position, or busting that arse until you can retire.

People typically tolerate their job. They do the minimum, or maybe even more than the minimum at times just to earn brownie points or justify a future of doing the minimum down the road.

A "dream job" has increased conveniences (WFH, flexible schedule, lots of vacation days, CoL discounts). A "dream job" is equivalent to "what seems most tolerable."

I could never understand this. And then I met some, who fly for a living all week, and then comes to soaring club to fly gliders on weekend.

I love my job. I would never admit it to anyone at my work, straight jacket guaranteed.

Good responses on this thread. I guess on an extreme end you have people who would do their job for free because they love it so much. On the other extreme you hate your job and it ruins your life and the only reason you don't just walk off is because of obligations/consequences if you do. For a lot of us it's a love/hate relationship.

If you really hate your job that much you should do something else or at least have a goal of achieving something better.

I wonder if there are people who followed their dream and became artists, authors, or musicians, and ended up hating their job just like everyone else.
