That part of West Philly is not in a good neighborhood at all. I don't blame the guy for hiring security there. I'm sure most of his customers appreciate it. The long guns are a little over the top, but whatever, there's nothing wrong with having armed security in that area in general.

I used to go to that Jim's when visiting and the issue is that it is a super narrow place. (maybe 2 people wide, side by side)
So there is no escape route because the building is maybe 30 to 35 feet long.
You literally order when you step up the front step and watch as it is being made, pay at the end, grab your tasty cake and reverse the process.
It is not so scary but if the owner wants protection....so be it.
I wouldn't be afraid to go there at night either.

I grew up 15 mins drive to the west of this place. Nothing at all like this area but I use to go hang around 69th street and play golf at Cobbs Creek golf course from time to time. Left Philly in 2015 and will never go back.

I agree long guns are unnecessary. Better to get short-barrelled weapons especially since most encounters will be close range.
