What's The Best Job To Get For A Finance Company?

Doesnt even have to be finance related, can be cyber security, project management or whatever

Say you work for a multi billion finance company thats very well known, what is the best career path in this industry?

The best jobs are of course heavily guarded and handed down to carefully selected young moggers with powerful connections.

If you just walk in off the street as a pleb, you are on a completely different path.

Finance companies aren't a great choice as a whole unless your sole focus is money and you are compulsively driven.

130k is basically the equivalent of 70k in smaller cities. So solid entry level analyst level position.

As a rule.

Accounting is the best Bachelors degree within finance as it allows the most options as a fresh graduate.

Becoming an Actuary is probably the best finance related career path.

I realize i have to network, I'm not planning to be CEO, I'm just thinking of the best career path as a back up plan incase my business plan fails and chit. I wanna atleast be in that $150k-200k bracket

Coincidentally came in to say cyber security, but applies to even non-finance industries.

Entry pay these days can be $80k+, it's WFH often times, especially at the lower-med levels, and you have the capacity to climb all the way up to VP/SVP (ISO/CISO), or even C-suite (CIO). Only downside about cyber, versus other job roles, is you usually don't get any commission incentive, and are subject to the organization's typical bonuses/stock-benefits as a whole. Cyber security doesn't generate profit, only mitigates losses. Companies like to try to go as cheap/efficient as they can to meet requirements and cover their cyber-oriented losses. This can effect your own pay too.

I hate cities for one. So the idea of living in one makes me feel uncomfortable.

I went the financial analyst route... What I found was that any entry level job you could get with a finance degree you could also get with an accounting degree, but the inverse wasn't true. Econ is even worse.

Higher level jobs is more about what career path you take for your 2nd/3rd job.

Actuary is more of a statistical analysis job than an accounting role.

I didn't get Accounting well either at first.

The first 200 level course were easy and then the 300 level course was hard. However, after I had done some real world finance work accounting was easy AF. Accounting is actually a language. Once you learn the rules it is easy.

Your tier list mirrors mine in terms of what I would rather do....

However, the degree is about checking a box and getting your first job out of school. Unless you are IVY league, out competing experienced analysts to get jobs fresh out of school probably isn't happening. Accounting is EASILY the easiest business degree to land that first job with.
