At 51, it's worth it. Sure, there's definitely EGO involved when I'm in the top tier physically at my age and even mog even kids half my age, but it's more to what it brings me health-wise. I can recover from injuries, I can do more physically, balance, coordination. I can go longer, further on hikes, walks, and MTB rides.

Also, it's important to be bored and to do boring, menial tasks every once in a while. It's actually brings great mental fortitude, concentration, and meditation.

Google boredom and the mind some time.
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.

You missed the entire point.
You are attempting to modify self from areas that you dislike, don't admire, or feel self conscious about, to areas that you do like.
It wasn't about calves......that is an example that most readers can relate to; it is about genetic limitations and goal setting behavior.
simple concept
We do it for ourselves and it is a stress reliever, health improver, confidence builder, social activity if you are normal, and you feel amazing after.

Nothing you've said makes repetitive lifting of metal plates sound fun. Why can't you have a stress reliever or work on the source of the stress, improve health, build confidence and be social without the mind-numbing endeavor of repeatedly picking up metal plates for years and years?

Metal plates are denser than most materials, so they are more convenient to use as a means of resistance.

Are you retarded?

here is what i do to make it not mind numbing, your list may differ.
i have a plan for what body part i want to "bring up" or improve.
i have a list of new unusual exercises to try and master.
1 preworkout drink
1 dj mix with fast paced edm to not be mind-numbing, so i dont sound or feel like eddiehaskell.

i do lots of other sports as well , this is just 1 activity.

So you're finding newer and newer ways of trying to make something that's boring not as boring. Got it.

lol @ men finding body parts they need to "bring up". men of past generations would laugh their asses off.

Bodybuilders were basically looked at like celebs by men of past generations. In 2023 everyone is on gear and its super common to be a lifter. But previously not so much,. But in the 50s-60s-70s there weren't a lot of jacked guys walking around.

You can cope all you want but having a jacked physique gets you a lot of attention/admiration. And when you have the right nutrition/supplements/juice lifting absolutely is a fun activity.

Watch the below video of fast forward if you'd like but just watch the reactions. Sorry bro but men from past generations idolized BBers.

ahh i see, your mind is closed to new information, you do not want to improve, you just want to whine here on bb.com and deflect reasonable replies.
why did you create the thread in the first place since your mind was already closed?

I mean you could have called a friend or a parent and achieved the same results; why comment to a bodybuilding focused community?

lmfao @ posting the *opposite of what this community is geared towards*; men of past generations would laugh their asses off because your posting is illogical.

try basketweaving dot com.

a lot of these people are mentally unhealthy and die or have debilitating health problems by their 50s. they aren't really people to be envied -- gawked at sure. It's akin to those conventions where people doing extreme body modifications go.

Doing the same movements over and over again staring at 4 walls is usually going to be boring.

Rowing on an erg is boring af but rowing on the water watching the world go by in an actual boat is fun.

It does turn into a grind going heavy everyday focusing on numbers vs how I feel. I've gotten burned out many times over the years and taken breaks.

Actually having a lot of fun right now. Son is just starting to lift for athletic improvement & I'm recovering from a couple of nagging injuries. Just loading up the bar with something comfortable and reppin with great form. Son has always had a strong arm but almost immediately his throws have noticeably improved (ball is flatter, faster, increased spin).
