“Bloodsport” (1988) real life vs. movie

It’s based on the martial arts experiences of real life badass frank dux

Was his friend Ray Jackson based on a real fighter/friend? I can’t find any info. I loved the character in the movie but who is he based off of irl?

Just watched that for the first time. Was dying laughing at the dust in the eyes scene where hes on his knees screaming for like 30 seconds and his opponents just walking in circles.

I read that the movie was actually made in 1986 but it took two years for a distributor to pick it up.

Richard Robinson, the inspiration for the Ray Jackson character in Bloodsport, was said to have met Dux at the Kumite, but it was eventually reported that Robinson was Dux's former classmate, prompting many to believe that Robinson had been asked to lie in order to corroborate Dux's story.
