Diablo IV down to just 40,000 daily users....vs 7 million simultaneous users

A greater that 99% drop. I have the game and its just boring. I got to level 30 before I couldn't play it anymore. I understand I find it boring for different reasons than most, but getting rid of the kill combo system was bullchit. You're just holding down a button for hours now hoping that blizzard hasn't nerfed your strategy.
discuss. Surely there are D4 defenders here despite the ENTIRE gaming community turning their back on this game.

I haven't bought or played it but I lol'd when I heard they made most of the loot untradeable.
Between that and not having 8 player open lobbies with pvp in Diablo 3, it's like they have no idea why the series was popular and why people still play Diablo 2 23+ years later.

Where did that number come from
Where did that number come from
Think they're maybe referencing this site's numbers (https://activeplayer.io/diablo-4/) which are of course completely worthless, since Blizzard is the only entity that knows the numbers and they sure as hell won't be releasing any of them. That site is maybe using some self reported schit or Steam numbers, which might not be that relevant since it's a Battle.net game. No idea whether there are any reliable player count aggregating sites for consoles.
Thing is that Blizz absolutely did make bank with D4's release while also having many legitimate issues and a lackluster S1.
Come S2 there will be an upswing in "omg guise, Blizzard actually listened, D4 is great again" vids, then after a couple of weeks we'll be back to "omg guise, Blizzard failed yet again, they're done for".

No shocker, video games are largely dead. I predicted this one would die out just like that p.o.s. halo 6.
Remakes / Remasters and a handful of some new originals are the only things to look forward to. All that processing power and advanced graphics mostly wasted.

Games generally drop in usage over time.
I’ll never understand this “less people are playing it months later so game was a failure”. Often used just to console war (not in this case). People move on to other games. Not everything needs to have hundreds of thousands of players for months/years on end to be a success

I never understood people who wanted to grind these games other than playing through the story.
Playing through once then maybe another play through with different char a year later or so is all I would ever expect. Grinding and online play seems dumb to me I would play something else for that.

I do understand there are youtube / online personalities that are shills and will ass kiss the game and its developers and then shift 180 when the popular opinion remains standing after all the fluff and 'respectfully' critique the game and the developers, but those people are full of sh!t to begin with and they're just showing out for money / views.
The quality is just no longer there for certain franchises, maybe there are some new ones that tick all the boxes for the consumers, but on a personal level, there isn't much that interests me. Still wondering if The Last Night is ever going to release, that's one that piqued my interest.

Can't sell cosmetics and battle passes if people aren't playing. Checkmate blizz.
Most streamers/content creators have jumped ship cause the viewership just isn't there.

the game sucks, most people played through the campaign once and quit. cant trade and 99.999% of the drops are meaningless. Game is built around squeezing you for microtransactions.
game is all about builds and loots. most of the builds are boring as **** and the loot sucks, dead game

If streamer numbers and concurrent players mattered then PoE should have been dead for several years.
It's always popular to try and schit on Blizz, but the thing is that they have really figured out their paying audience and know exactly how to milk them.

the season is ending soon, most of the people are done with the season and there no point in playing it any longer and those people into ARPGs will return to see what the new season 2 is like, probably play it for two-three weeks and quit again only to come back in season 3 rinsing and repeating.
...yea the game will never be as popular as release date
but there will always be the youtubers that have their channel filled with hate for any game just to get clicks, and people who watch them just to side because they want to feel right.

Like i was saying, the game is trash. I spent $100 on it and i didn't even want to finish the campaign nearing the end. The fact that no one wants to play it is proof.... D2 still stands the test of time and the last real diablo experience.
