Both are true.

Death rate was high because people in Florida are fat. Lockdowns were too harsh at the beginning which didn't do squat long term. He should have focused on getting people in shape if he really cared.

I think that death rates for covid in the USA are high relative to other nations due to obesity. Thats why the USA ranks 65 or something in life expectancy.

Of course the politically correct media will never tell people to lose weight. This will BOTH increase the life expectancy and decrease mortalities from covid , flu and other viruses. Instead they will tell you to mask forever.
