Man the story in this game is a bit much. Just did the first brain dance. The game is throwing so many new characters at me I can't keep up with who they are, who they roll with and why any of that matters. Even after the prologue you meet up with Jackie and suddenly there's a bunch of other new characters which already know you for some reason. Hoping it all makes sense but when starting the game it legit feels like you've jumped in half way through an existing story

Yeah it kinda throws you in, CDPR never did a good job with that. What sucks is your life path didn't mean much.

That said, it's not bad at all, you'll understand things a bit more by act 2.

I don’t remember feeling overwhelmed at all.
But then again my first play through was years ago.

It's the montage that did it. One minute I'm some corporate guy working for some other guy who killed a couple other guys in a boardroom, then some woman yells at him, then I'm in a bar with Jackie, some suits show up and are angry, steal everything from me, cue montage of loads of stuff happening and next thing I know I'm suddenly best friends with this Jackie guy who I don't even know (as the player) and have new characters calling/texting me every 5 minutes who all know who I am and my character talks to them like he's known them ages too.
That said the gameplay is pretty fun but in the world there's a hell of a lot of things which look like you should be able to interact with them, but can't.

Yeah they Def throw you into the middle of the chit, but it starts to make sense.

It's a little confusing but I appreciate being thrust into action and not having a slow starting game that takes hours to become interesting

It's actually better post release. Slightly

The entire set up for this game is retarded and felt incredibly rushed. Especially with all these fixers blasting your phone out of nowhere and everybody knowing who you are ... You as a player have no idea who any of these guys are, but all of this happens during that "cut content" time where you get the montage with Jackie at the start of the game.

Such a missed opportunity.Spoiler!
Jackie's death didn't do chit for me ... It was done and written in a pretty heartful way, but I didn't feel a thing because I barely knew Jackie
. In the game, V spends an year or so with Jackie as newbie contractor, meeting all the fixers, getting to know him and his family etc, but there's a huge disconnect between V and the player. It would have been so much better had you actually experienced the game starting out as a newbie, getting to know everyone ...and then the thing happens. The way it happens now, V is already an established contractor and a good one at that since everyone knows him and you dont really get a chance to make your mark as the type of person you want V to be.

But anyway I digress, once you reach the Keanu part of the story everything starts to fall into place and it starts making more sense and gives you more time to breathe.

Pretty much the same things can be said for The Witcher 3, even for the 1, and 2, though. You start the game where people already know who you are, you've already got contacts, and you're already an established, famous monster hunter. A lot of it will give you questions unless you've read the books. I was like ??? When I first met Dijkstra. Even Zoltan, Dandelion, already knew Geralt really well. At least in Cyberpunk there's actually a montage of what happened.

Which melee weapon are you planning to main?

Haven't checked the ripperdoc for this yet, not sure if they changed it, but prior to 2.0 you can't hack if you're using the sandevistan (slow time cyberware) so if you're going for the sandy build, which a lot of sword type players do, you won't be able to hack. Unless they changed it in 2.0

I've said this before, but CDPR are in a whole new generation with this game when it comes to cutscene animation.

This is probably the best cutscene direction / animation I've seen in any RPG game ever.

It's almost comparable to ND / Sony studio level of animation work. The way how characters move, have little quirks, do little things, pick up stuff, all the while during dialogue instead of just standing there like some bethesda game retard is simply incredible and adds so much detail, character and so much immersion.

6 hours in and only just beat the prologue jfl. RIP Jackie.
Getting more into it now and getting a better feel for the menus etc. Feel like they went abit overkill on the shards though. Cant turn a corner without a shard symbol with yet more chit to read. I know I can ignore them but my OCD won't allow it. What's annoying is a lot of them are the same as ones I've already picked up. Why cant it just autogenerate ones I dont already have

Any brahs who've played before the update feel underwhelmed by the perk trees? I dunno, so far I miss the old setup. It seemed to offer more interesting setups. I'm only like 3 hours in, so that could change. I never did a sandy build, and I've wanted to try, but hacking was always so unique and fun.

They're more interesting imo. Had my Cafe date with Takamura and am lvl 10. Interested to see how the new katana abilities play out.

Really like how the crafting and upgrades work now.

I've seen some long time players complain about the perk changes because they felt like V got nerfed, but I've also seen a lot of them change their minds after experiencing the high level perks.
It's certainly harder now during early game. But once you experience using higher level perks, I think you'll change your mind too.

I've just unlocked the the perk that allows you to smash the ground with a blunt weapon and it's brutal lol can't wait to get the perk that allows you to throw bodies

I recommend you try to get this as soon as you can as it'll allow you to close in the distance with enemies when you haven't unlocked dash and air dash yet. Its leap distance is pretty far. You just hold the attack button and aim at the enemy you want to leap onto.

I'll tell you how to find it. You've already met Takemura so it's not a spoiler but I'll put a spoiler tag for others
Spoiler!
Just keep doing the finding Evelyn Parker quests, it's in the mission called Disasterpiece.

Alright, I'm 100% sure I want a Batman build, all melee, no weapons. I think it's going to be fun. I gotta figure out where should I put my points. Body is a must for health regen and melee, tech for all the armour and vehicle upgrades, gonna need stealth, and a little hacking. Gonna go gorilla arms. I might go tech weapons at the end, but it'll solely be non lethal.

Looks really good actually. Try to get Quake asap, it's a game changer, especially when you're being surrounded by multiple enemies.

Don't matter. Spoilers should be avoided regardless. Would you like me to spoil the DLC while we're on the subject? Or we can just avoid it all together?

Lol got my ass handed to me 3 times before cheesing my first cyberpsycho because she refused to run outside the boundaries of the building I found her in. Alls Ive got is some basic ass shotgun that takes a year to reload, a chitty submachine gun, a chitty LMG and a chitty pistol. Gotta start somewhere I guess. I wish there was a button to autosell duplicates. I had like 6 of the same baseball cap. Inventory is just gonna get spammed with trash if I dont micromanage all the time

Don't worry much about money especially if you've got the expansion as there's going to be procedural airdrops in Dogtown and stealing vehicle missions. basically infinite ways to earn money.

People keep asking this cuck question. The answer is no. CDPR objective was to make it immersive and that's what makes the game so good. If you have a nice TV and some good headphones or surround it feels like you're inside the game.

It's very immersive in first person, it definitely wouldn't be in 3rd.

Aside from strong numbers in Steam charts, you know a game is doing well when it starts getting articles like this:

https://www.pcgamer.com/my-character...e-world-wasnt/

"The problem is that the world itself is incredibly binary. It features clearly defined gender norms, with clothing, hairstyles, makeup, and plenty more still fixed and gendered. Lizzie's and Clouds both include glowing neon signs in the shape of the traditional male and female gender symbols. At Clouds, when V's mind is scanned to find her sexual preferences, the computer clearly sorts the options into male and female, with V's apparent bisexuality treated as something mildly scandalous.

Like many trans women before me, I find myself looking at V's penis and wondering what the point of it is. It's certainly not for the sex scenes, which are aggressively cisgendered regardless of what V is packing."
