Is anyone else resentful about welfare/social benefits handed out to others?

Have you ever stopped and wondered over the years how much different your life might have been if you had received even half of the various government benefits you've seen some people get?

Some people get:

1. Housing assistance
2. Utility bill assistance
3. Food stamps
4. Benefits to pay for various childcare expenses
5. Subsidized healthcare

Some people get essentially their entire existence covered by the system, including able-bodied people who should be able to contribute a good amount in their own way via working. Sometimes I can't help but wonder what my life could be like had I gotten even half the "free stuff" I've seen some people collect. It can really rustle a middle classer if you let yourself think about it too much.

No. I don't hate on anyone just to be hating.

Would I personally want to live off someone else's tax dollars if I didn't have to? Nope I just couldn't feel right about my life and if I don't feel right about my life I can't even enjoy hobbies or other fun activities

With that said though my moto is always. "To each their own"

I despise jealous. Envious meddlesome, stick their nose in other peoples lives because they are miserable and hate the world.

Ofcourse.

You have the hard working folks who take pride in going and earning their paycheck while contributing to society and then you have the undesirables who will never contribute anything towards society but misery and unpleasantness. They will take take take and then demand more.

imagine that, working hard and doing the right things to be a productive member of society and a portion of my taxes go towards paying the worst kinds of people, allowing them to have huge families and live their best lives.

Sad!

People who abuse and exploit it? Yes.

People temporarily on it, due to hardship but are legit trying to get things sorted out? No.

Such slugs are not worth your attention though bro. They don't deserve a minutes worth of time inside your head or mental realstate.

Our taxes are going going Goin anyways and we have no say so over what. A good percentage goes in some politicians pocket im sure.

Like you said you work hard, you buy your own food, make your own way . That brings its own reward . It doesn't need a pat on the back. Acting and behaving decently does not need or deserve a pat on the back, that is every man and woman obligation to self and others.

The people who need welfare. Who are actually the type of people that it was implemented for in the first place. Then yes , if I had the money tk help I would every day. The sum bags who abuse the system, get a $1000 in food stamps every month, live in a very nice big house that's being paid for with government checks and every other loophole some people find and use are not worth our consideration. Such people will never change. Let them have their field day every day

They are not educated enough or decent enough human beings to even care about what they do

A friends dad growing up was on welfare when he went back to school for dentistry. He’s a dentist with his own practice. That case? No. He used and is now giving back.

But the abusers and weasels can get fuk’d.

Yes. I grew up poor in a hood area raised by a single dad busting his ass for 60+ hours a week. I’ve been robbed 3 times growing up including at gunpoint and jumped by a street gang. We used to get out clothes from the Salvation Army and food from discount grocers or Walmart. The lights got cut off on more than one occasion. Just to give you an idea.

We were NEVER on social services.

My dad refused. He said your dignity is worth more. Even to the point where I qualified for free school lunches due to his low income, but he wouldn’t sign the papers because he considered it a handout.

Meanwhile I had friends whose parents were junkies just sitting home collecting food stamps and disability checks. It really made me think less of those people. I also have a cousin today who has 3 kids with 3 different men, just got evicted, hasn’t worked in 3 years, refuses to do anything other than milk the system. It pisses me the fuk off.

Nobody should be handed free chit. Instead the government should reward people who do the right thing. If you’re married, a homeowner and decide to have kids, THEN you should be given a child tax credit. If you’re a degenerate you should be punished financially.

I'd be less resentful if they couldn't vote and were forced to be sterilized.

I don't care about helping someone in need, social safety nets are needed. I do care about how the government make people dependent on the system. Then there's the whole issue of the government punishing you for doing better, while the irresponsible people get more and more free stuff.

I am all for helping the truly unfortunate/down on their luck folks.

What bothers me is having seen decades of a fair number of people getting all kinds of taxpayer funded social benefits, who never really had any more need/use for it than I might have. Sick of always paying in and getting nothing back except the gov arguing about our infrastucture funding while they send billions to Ukraine.

Politicians and corporations have been siphoning tax payer dollars directly, and putting it directly in their pockets.

Ya'll never hold the same energy for them though. Resentful is definitely the right word though, it seems like the root of this is people angry because someone has it easier than them.

"Why should they get that so easily when I had to WORK for it?!?"

Boomers have the same mentality.

This.

But it also seems like misc generally doesn't care about the difference and lumps everyone into the first category.

Yes..

Unfortunately it seems its more of the first instance. I do feel the system has to be reworked and be more stringent, and realistically would like to limit the ability to vote if on social assistance.

The truly red pilling aspect of your story is that there is never any reward for that "being the better person" stuff when it comes to turning down welfare out of pride. It seems you learned a good lesson in it all, which is great. But beyond that sort of thing, the rewards fornotcollecting government handouts are minimal. It's not like the movies where people will be clapping at the end to congratulate you on making it your own way or whatever.

Yes, most just don't see there is a difference between a hand out and a hand up a hand out is something a lazy selfish self centered greedy pos ask for or wants but never appreciates anything he or she is ever given they get one hand out then they want and expect two then three never having gratitude or appreciation. A hand up is something a good person who may have just fallen on hard times and needs a rope thrown down to him so he can work his way out of that hole, they appreciate the hand up ,having every intention of giving back once they are out of that whole appreciation and gratitude is always there.

There lays he difference in the two and its really not very hard to see who is asking for which

some homeless bum had the nerve to try to ask me for free money in the parkinglot.

this bum rolls up and just stands there with a cardboard sign doesnt even say anything. I told him no no thank you, trying to be polite. he doesnt say anything just keeps standing there. I had to yell out NO really loud at him to assert dominance so he would finally walk away, what in the fuk, i pay all these taxes and these leeches get all this free chit just for existing. free food, free medical care even free welfare checks and he has the god damn nerve to try to ask for money and not even the respect to speak to his care giver and just stands there with a fuking sign.

i dont know how welfare works but im pretty sure you cant just be poor.you can get EBT and medicaide but they dont just give you money.i know if your a woman with 5 kids they will give you something.thats why they have so many kids.get the money every month.sell the food stamps AKA EBT.ive seen it.but if anyone with real life experience with welfare id like to hear it.cause no single male with no kids doesnt normally get welfare.unless im mistaken.especially not a single WHITE MALE is gonna get it.not in my neck of the woods.never heard of it or seen it

I used to be on welfare and loved it.

Brb buying a tootsie roll with a $5 food stamp bill and spending the change on booze and hookers.

Pretty much this. There are people who work full time and still can't afford the basics. I have no problem with them receiving benefits to help them out. The people who are able bodied who just choose not to work should not receive benefits.
