I think you and are have a misunderstanding.. if you think my treatment has been decent or moral then you just don't understand decency or morality.

Grandpa. Grandma died this year. I see them as kind of the same entity though so that's why I'm making my contribution. Growing up we were always closer with my Mom's side of the family than my Dad's. So summer and winter we'd go visit. Why? Most people who have normally functioning families with non arsehole people know that the grandparents are always the coolest. They love their grandkids. They spoil them but appropriately. My Grandfather built an electric trainset for me when I was younger in the basement. We painted one of those build yourself models of one of the battleships from WW2 (he was in the Navy then). We went on fishing trips together. Grandma played a huge role because she'd make food for us, take us out to get food/shopping, etc..

I miss them dearly. The fuked up thing too is that my Grandma died on May 24th. I had a missed call from her in April that I never bothered to call back on. I regret that so much. Funny thing is that when people start to feel their time is coming they sneakily and strongly start reaching out. Looking back I feel that is what that was. That will haunt me for the rest of my life.

I think we should all get back to some basic principles of there is going to be any future worth having.

Home and family. Let the outside world burn. It can't be saved. Protect you and yours. Everything else is for naught

That doesn't mean not to help friends or family or neighbor, it means to know your limitations. One man camt make a difference. It's s bright idea. But it's just not grounded in reality.

There will be some who feels different. Young and filled with hope and energy.. turn from that path. The end is a nose to a brick wall.

Yes and no to an extent. Family of course. Yourself of course. Others? Well part of that is just being a human. But the hard part about that is knowing the difference between just being a doormat and oblivious versus actually doing something good for people because it's either the right thing to do or they're deserving of it. Hard to see the difference there sometimes. As I've gotten older I initially will be a decent human towards someone I've never met before. But anything past that is more upon deserving. The other question is why do some people do the right thing? To make themselves feel better? Just to do the right thing? Do it for attention or social gratification? Feeling the need to makeup for their own pitfalls? Again, another hard question.

Human interaction is all transactional. Someone does something for you and there's an expected return for that. You do something for someone and there's an expected return for that. Maybe 1/100 would actually do it because it's the right thing. But today's world is all about getting something out of it.
