lmao if you care about how much you lift
It's pathetic when men care about how much weight they can lift up and down, for the approval of others (usually other men).
It's fine to have somerelativetracking/measurement for you own personal goals, but it's complete insecurity to care about the absolute number on the weight or compare it.
Always the most meathead potato IQ retards boasting about it, or commenting on how much weight some other guy can lift.
Honestly, if you're 30+ and still care about this stuff.... son.

You said it yourself, breh. Obsessing over specific lifting numbers to that extent is a young man's game.

i think what's most important for me is that i am either working towards getting better or maintaining while focusing on injury prevention but theres ups and downs and plateaus and rest days or just not feeling energized like before. working towards getting back to that Hungry mindset is what brings me back

I use it as a way of measuring progress in myself. That's it. The byproducts of this journey towards self improvement are respect from others. I used to care about how much I could lift, but as time went on I really began to see it for insecurity on my part. So, to combat that I've quit going to the gym and I just wodjiit at home. There's something really cool about realizing that I'm maintaining almost all of my muscle(200 pounds) by just doing bodyweight exeecises and also I've got a 45 pound dumbbell. That is the ultimate flex for me..realizing that I am still a beast without ever having access to free weights s

opie is 100% correct. men 30+ worried about getting pumped up to lift more than others is very cringe....sorta like older men wearing mma shirts like affliction to seem edgy/tough

Past a certain point I think it's dumb because what it takes to get to 500/400/700 type numbers is risky as fuk as you age and being a huge roided up guy in your later years looks kind of cringe.
That said if you can't do 315/250/450 and you lift weights regularly you probably need to work on that. Being able to do the big 3 heavy without being in pain means you are keeping up mobility, training smart, and probably have pretty high injury prevention during daily life. If you don't then have fun on your hip abductor machine ****GGOT

Agreed. I lift to look good and stay healthy. Wonโt even lie about that. Couldnโt care less about the weight. That said, I do track to make sure Iโm making progress because the more progress you make the better youโll look objectively. As far as the number goes? Donโt really care.

What do you expect? The defining quality of this forum is that of insecurity.
Miscers vary in regards to their particular insecurities, but our shared trait is that we're all somewhat insecure *******s.

The pure health benefits of resistance training top out pretty quickly, and most average people would need many years of consistent very hard training to reach those weights with some probably needing roids too.
Fine when you're young, I hit all those numbers in my mid 20s, but fuk if I will ever lift that heavy again srs.

Dude I know right?
If I had a Time Machine Iโd go back and slap the f out of myself
Because itโs like?
What am I doing? 120 pound Arnold presses at 18
Great now I canโt even do bench press wo meds and I canโt do shoulder press or Arnold press with over 20 pounds
Because of the pinched nerve
Okay? Disregard physique and how you look because the first thing a girl does is ask you for how much weight you can put up
Instead of just staring at your physique
Retarded
Iโd also do the same thing about tobacco
But I feel it was my way of making up for insecurities
I had asthma really bad up until I was 15-16
Then a combination of me finding out I was lactose intolerant and hitting puberty my asthma disappears
Hard as fucj growing up in an Italian house hold and being lactose intolerant
Brb artichoke stuffed w Parmesan, spaghetti and meatballs w loads of mozzarella
Sicilian deep dish pizza everyday
Anyways? Iโd used to be in the hospital like 9 times a winter w life threatening asthma
And taking prednisone which is a steroid and it makes you fat as f
So I feel like? Well Iโm thick Iโm just going to go to the gym out as much weight up as I can and ignore everything else
Das not it

"Anyone who doesn't do exactly what I do is dumb" - OP
I would say lifting for anyone else's approval is worthless, but I enjoy lifting heavy. I never "over do it", but numbers is one of the best ways to keep track in the gym. I'm not coming in to spin wheels and maintain. I am progressing as far as I can for as long as I can.
