Is anyone surprised Biden's biggest concern now with McCarthy gone is Ukraine aid? That bastard is selling us down the toilet...

To be clear... This isn't real money.

The money to Ukraine is mostly* fully depreciated military hardware that requires cycling.

I am still not a fan, but we should be transparent about it.

its not even 5% of our annual defense budget. Ukrainians are doing the fighting, not Americans. Do you believe that if we cut funding then somehow groceries and rent will be cheaper?

You have to compromise to get anything done. I would say that Republicans should agree to fund Ukraine if the Dems agree to secure the border.

My point is, why is the Ukraine funding your top priority to cut when there's 95% of other military budget spending that is probably more wasteful and being put to less good use. Think of how bloated our defense department is, all of our bases in the world. Yet republicans are complaining about giving Ukraine mostly outdated weapons when they are actively fighting one of our adversaries FOR US. Makes no sense.

Plus we have made promises to them and are too far in to just pull the plug now. That would look horrible amongst our allies and embolden our enemies. China for sure would take Taiwan knowing we dont have the stomach or unity to fund our allies

Believe it or not Trump was actually the first president to sell Ukraine javelin missiles. Obama/Biden refused to do it.

Everyone wants a border wall. In fact, Biden Admin just started building it again. Biden had continued building it at the beginning of his presidency, then halted it to open up the border. Now that the northern blue states are in crisis, Dems turned on him, forcing him to start up construction again. Lol

This. Shows how dumb they are.
Goetz was pretty clear about why he was doing this.
They'd be better off with someone would play ball w them.

Decommissioning military equipment is often more expensive than giving it away. When they get a bunch of F16 c/ds that are 40 years old it isn't the worst use case for these planes.

Given that we also promised our protection if they denuclearized it is a bit tricky. Probably going to kick off a nuclear arms race.

The uniparty is mad at Gaetz and saying that he’s a liar and doing this for himself.

Well, lets see, he has nothing to gain except the respect of the people, he has everything to lose. He doesn’t take money from lobbyists, he doesn’t want power/Speaker position, and the risk is that now republicans are talking about removing him.

These individuals are also lying, saying that Gaetz took the side of the dems, because dems voted for this. Only a evil conman would take that perspective. Dems saw an opportunity and took it because they thought McCarthy would run for speaker again and they could get a better deal than the last time. Pelosi stabbed McCarthy in the back, and that’s what you get for teaming up with evil people.

The left and right both have their 'extreme' groups, like AOC, bernie, the squad etc on the left. The difference is that when the dems fuk over the squad, they just go along with it. This is what it looks like when you have people in office that really mean what they say, and that's such a monumental shift in the political norm that minds are being blown all over

I am not fully versed in governmental accounting (things are different than public accounting), but my understanding is it goes something like this.

1.2 million dolllar AMRAM missile has a 5 year life and is at year 4. This aid then gives the AMRAM @ FULL initial purchase price away and not the 300 million that it is still "worth".

I am not sure why it can't be just given away, but my guess is there is some audit rule in place and this is too big to be hidden.

If you look at the aid packages these things make the majority. I feel slightly different about giving away our old chit than just giving them cash. The cash needs to end. Giving away failed troop transport platforms is a bit different. (m113)

Someone has to be paid for it. THe government doesn’t build the weapons, the private contractors do; the MIC. If the military already paid for it, they use the money to replace it.

So I’m not sure what you meant when you said “It’s not real money”. The taxpayer funds everything the government does. The government produces nothing. It is a zero sum game.

The US bought an APC (M113) in 1970... This APC was paid for in full 50 years ago. This APC is a POS and not used anymore.

So giving away 500 million dollars "worth" of 50 yearold M113s. Isn't really giving away anything. The replacements have already been bought.

A lot of the items on the give away list are like that. 40 year old f-16 c/ds are falling apart and due to be retired.

It is like you are giving away items to a thrift store instead of the trash can. Is it "really" charity or is it just throwing something away in a different form?

Bills don’t work like you would expect them to work. When a bill is written for 9b to aid in Ukraine, that money can be spent any way that the politicians want. Even if they specify how to spend the money, they don’t follow the bill regardless.

Like someone pointed out earlier, how many people do you think know that Ukraine aid meant pension plans? Healthcare? Building infrastructure? Government and economic reform? Propaganda to be used on the US citizens, most of which has nothing to do with Ukraine? How much of that money was used to fund US government in the leftist agenda?

To give you an example of what I’m referring to, Ted Cruz pointed out that 80 or 90% of the COVID relief funds were actually used for things that had nothing to do with COVID. A vast majority of it was used for the leftist agenda, redistributing wealth to democrat cities and minorities, including the climate agenda.

It may take years before we actually find out, because they don’t make the information public right away, and, they don’t spend it all at once.

We have spent over $75B in “Ukraine aid” money. That’s a LOT. It’s difficult to believe that we are at a point that $75B isn’t a lot of money. That’s a real problem.

That is exactly what I am saying. The vast majority of that 75B in Ukraine Aid money was out dated/about to expire chit from the back of uncle sam's garage.

Now there is a lot in cash and that is a problem, but don't pretend a giving away 200 apcs from Vietnam is the same thing as giving away 500 million dollars.

If I give you a 10 yearold treadmill from the back of my garage gathering dust does it really mean I just gave you $1000? If it was the US giving it to Ukraine it would.

By just throwing that 75 Billion in "urkaine aid" number out a lot of people are thinking that is 75 billion in real dollars. IT ISN'T. Now it might be 20 billion in real dollars and I have an issue with that, but donating dusty old chit to the Ukrainian war effort isn't the same thing.

It doesn't matter how the Ukrain aid is being given out. if it is just old military equipment, why is it being lumped into a spending bill? And why did McCarthy have to do it behind closed doors with Dems? THAT is Gaetzs' issue.
