This. At least strive for a 650 Op.

Also what state do you live in? Lane splitting is legal in some and illegal in others.

Get a grom, or maybe an electric MTB.

Just gotta be worried about it getting stolen. Even 250s can literally be picked up and carried off

i ****ing hate this dumb ****ing 'wisdom'. not everyone drops their bikes. in fact you have to be shockingly inept physically to drop your bike. it makes literally 0 sense to buy a trash tier bike you dont want as a stopgap to getting the bike you do want. i learned on a 750lb 110hp custom victory and as i am not a flaming pussy, never dropped my bike.

250 is practically a scooter, you can’t keep up on the highway. Need a 500 bare minimum and still that’s barely enough.

What's your price range? At minimum I'd look at a yamaha r3, suzuki sv650, ktm duke, etc. Need a little more info but I wouldn't buy a chinese bike I can't tell what the OP photo is

Hell no, 250 you’ll be hating life. Yamaha makes a good cafe racer 600, get last years model or a ‘21 for probably $4,000..I don’t recommend Ducati, overpriced & completely overpriced parts.

If he’s new to riding he will most likely drop or go down once, most do, especially in high traffic areas. Been riding for 20 yrs, I went down my first year but only because I was young & dumb trying to keep up with a friend, had quite a few close calls lane splitting (legal here in CA) but thankfully never went down. I’d buy a bike I liked starting out, but not go all out, to me that’s foolish.

Thats looks like a hipster wanne bike. You will have lots of issues with it like little repairs and the like.

You should certainly get some sort of ike but one from a reliable manufacturer.

well good for you.most new users drop their first bikes.thats just how it goes.you wanna talk about bikes or you wanna just try to be a tough guy?its fuking stupid to buy a $15,000 bike when you dont know how to ride or even know if you like riding.go take your dumbass somewhere else if you dont wanna talk bikes like an intelligent and experienced rider.thats the kind of thinking that gets people killed and if their lucky a broken part or 2

i've owned probably 7 or 8 sport bikes over the last 15 years. Only one I didn't crash was the one where i bought a very cheap used r6 and the engine blew in 8 months

nobody should be buying a grom unless your abnormally short or wanna have a fun little mod bike.for what they are groms are a ripoff.$4500 for a little 125 that goes 60mph is not in anyway meant to be a real bike.they are fun to do tricks on though
