How did people find information before the internet
Before the internet, how did people find information about stuff?
I'm thinking of taking a break from the internet but I'm not sure how I'll be able to find information about stuff
I literally use the internet all day daily and it provides an enormous wealth of information
Tv gives information too but on the internet you get to choose which information you consume, or the information chooses you
Internet can be used for a billion different tasks and an almost endless stream of new information available

Apparently, from what I’ve heard there used to be this ancient technology they used to call clocks
Which apparently was a primitive way to tell time before Steve Jobs invented the iPhone
I don’t know, but what I do know is that I can’t afford to even engage in self care or drive around so I’m not sure

Most people spend large amounts of time on the internet yet learn very little. Its a toy and has always been a toy, like a fidget spinner or blocks were back in the day.

People used books. Lots of interlibrary loans. It took a long time and it was very difficult. Often it was easier to just go without.
Big thing that changed ... it was easier to be a criminal and hide your family. Paper records could be forged, children were often forgotten. Also, no one really gave a chit about kids back then.
Also, it was much harder to find your tribe without the internet. If you didn't have anyone near you that looked like you or acted like you did, you'd feel like a freak. These days, lonely people can find other oddballs on the internet, and there are always traces of like minded thinking. Back in the 80s and 90s there was a particular, awful, screaming kind of loneliness that you just never see these days.
if you had a friend and moved away, that was it, they were gone. I wasn't allowed to make calls, so poof. I was moved often, so I never had friends for more than a year or two.

Library, encyclopedia, hearsay.
*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*
*Use half the roll to wipe after a poo crew*
*Fart in the gym and blame rotten smell on faulty ventilation crew*
*Fart at home and blame it on the dog crew*
*Watch neutron-star density poop mock me as water flushes around it and it stays put crew*
*Drive 2 minutes in the summer and back of shirt gets completely wet crew*
*Coffee black as midnight on a moonless night crew*

There used to be a pretty big business in door to door encyclopedia sales. And those sets were expensive.
People would spend a lot more time at libraries and bookstores. Waldenbooks was huge.
Waldenbooks, operated by the Walden Book Company, Inc., was an American shopping mall-based bookstore chain, from 1995 as a subsidiary of Borders Group. The chain also ran a video game and software chain under the name Waldensoftware, as well as a children's educational toy chain under Walden Kids. In 2011, the chain was liquidated in bankruptcy.
Everyone had encyclopedia brittanica and popular mechanics.

Encyclopaedia on the shelf or go without knowing until going to the library or asking someone you think would know. That’s if you remembered or cared enough to find out. There was an idea of who knew what and could give you info. Like which teacher or acquaintance.
Books and encyclopaedias weren’t totally up to date obviously, so then magazines, newspapers, tv and radio programs became sources for different categories of interest. Eg a movie review show, sports news and results etc. Even player cards for the stats and records, which are now easily found online. And with topics of interest there was more commitment to follow sources, take notes and keep scrap books and such.

there's these places that are still around called libraries. they have books and newspapers new and old in there
