just started the One Piece live action series

don't know anything about the manga but decided to give it a shot

first episode was solid imo

also Nami is pretty hngggg



not sure what the manga fans think about it though and Rajc is no longer here lol

Manga/Anime fans (me included) seem to like it overall. The mangaka was heavily involved with the direction of the show, which is why it feels like one of the most faithful anime/manga live action adaptations made. Definitely the best as far as Netflix is concerned.


Interested to see how you like the rest of the episodes. I've only seen the first, but definitely plan to finish. Apart from some minor details, it's very faithful to the anime/manga. Great picks for the cast.

Now to see how they incorporate this lil fukker here

The girl that plays nami was sort of internet famous 10 years ago just for having glow. Shes 30 now, but has aged quite well.

    I was never into manga/anime stuff at all. Kind knew what One Piece was and then netflix trailer looked stupid af.

    But been reading alot of positive comments but disregarded them as manga nerds but surprising amount have not been original fans.


    Now misc dont got bad things to say? Might give it atry.

    Reminded me of monkey island which is probably where the manga dude stole all his ideas from. Asians aren't the most original idea makers.

    The games follow the misadventures of the hapless Guybrush Threepwood as he struggles to become the most notorious pirate in the Caribbean, defeat the plans of the evil undead pirate LeChuck and win the heart of Governor Elaine Marley. The plots often involve the mysterious Monkey Island and its secrets.

    The story follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, where he explores the Grand Line in search of the mythical treasure known as the "One Piece" in order to become the next King of the Pirates.

    I watched the anime in early 2000s when it first came out. So I'm a fan of One Piece. I've also read a lot of the manga after I caught up with anime like 500 episodes in. The Live Action One Piece is really well done. You can tell they put a lot of work into it. The characters look just like the Anime. And the characters are perfectly casted. The show was a lot more graphic than I thought. I didn't expect so much gore.

    Yeah, I did NOT expect to see what happened to Mr 3 and that dude on Alvida's ship end up like that, especially with how infrequently people actually die in One Piece.

    Chopper will be a 10/10 nightmare

    But yeah itโ€™s far and away best anime live action adaption

    I mean dragon ball did set the bar pretty low back in the day but still

    Still on like episode 4 cuz Iโ€™m watching it with my boys and not getting ahead. Only do movie/tv night once or twice a week.

    Finished it a couple weeks ago.

    Didn't watch the Anime. The kids and GF liked it which was pretty legit.

    It wasn't woke garbage. Good time overall. The critical drinker gave it a watch designation if you care about what he thinks.

    As long as they end at a relatively good stopping point. Usually there is an end to each saga that they can just wrap the series up if they choose to take it. Most successful shows have a tough time bowing out at the right time though. Money to be made and all that.

    Supposedly, the manga is in its final arcs. Now that probably means we still have a few years left, but at least we'll be done in this decade.


    And we're at 1078 episodes including filler.

    I've taken several breaks because it's so damn looooooong, but am in the 700's and will actually be caught up by next year.

    Started watching it because some miscer made a thread saying it had lots of gore - it doesn't. But after watching it for a bit ended up enjoying it and went through the 8 episodes in 2 or 3 days.

    i used to be pretty big into anime and still enjoy it but i never watched one piece so cant say how close the live action series is.i tried watching the first episode but couldnt finish it.Cowboy Bebop is probably my favorite anime and actually did like the live action series so maybe ill give it another chance.i generally dont watch series.i hear the One Piece JRPG that came out was pretty good.maybe if i like the game ill try the series again.no fuking way am i reading the manga or anime.way too much going on to catch up to that

    I watched it and it was alright. Some cool stuff, but also some super cringey chit. Nami.. wood berry.

    The grandpa/admiral is alpha as fuk and carries the show. The swordsman was cool until he got absolutely blasted by the #1 swordsman and made him his bitch.



    Will never watch the anime though. It seems dumb as fuk.
