Happens on the daily almost.

Punched through a cactus on that very same ride. Always carry tweezers.

Before the ride I debated wearing my gloves with knuckle protection, but decided against it because I knew it was going to get warm. Punched through a cactus halfway through the ride. Needle hit bone I was going so fast.

Worst are the barb ones of a barrel cactus (exactly like the one pictured) through the knee. As you pull it out, if its in deep enough, you pull muscle fiber. LOL.

Oh the fun memories...

Just did a tune up on my mountain bike that has been sitting unused for a while. cleaned and re-lubed the drivetrain, added some fresh sealant to the tires.

I might take her out to the trails in the AM.

I just rode it around the block, and riding a single speed bike with a perfect chain line and perfectly lubed chain is HNNNNNGGGGGG

Nice MTB ride today. I was a little rusty on my dirt riding, but overall felt pretty good.

So happy to finally have 70 degree morning weather at sunrise.

I just bought a DAKINE 2L HOT LAPS fanny pack.

10/10 fanny pack. LOVE IT. Go get one they're only like $40-$60.

Nah, I borrowed my brother's bike. Status 160. It's a very fun mullet bike.

On my ss, I put on a rear downhill tire for when we went to Sunrise Downhill park. Tire alone weighs 3 pounds! On regular riding, spinning up that much rotational weight is like trying to sprint uphill with 10-lbs ankle weights. LOL

Yup, I'm rocking a Dakine 2l fanny pack. Love it. I did have to replace the bite valve on mine after a while. It started leaking, but bite valves are cheap.

Yeah I don't tolerate heavy tires. Literally have given away tires that felt too heavy after 1 or 2 rides.

I think 700-800g per tire is the sweet spot for MTB. I prefer rekons.

Little cooler weather in the later mornings. I really gotta get back on schedule. Used to ride 3-4x week, then reduced to 1/week.

Ugh... so sick of this HEAT! 104 today.

Anyway, did get a solid 20 mile ride at San Tan Regional Park this morning. Felt good.

By myself, so no exciting photo.

fuuuuuuuucckk mirin tukson

do you even work bro? seems like youre always ridin during tha 9-ta-5 hours. i once met a guy who only worked side gigs at resturants for a few weeks at a time just enough to make it to the next trip. pretty much just drove his old ass truck to different bike trails around the west side area (rocky mountains). kinda like those van life bros on youtube but he just rode everyday instead.

mtb is the best man

i just bought a new tire, Kenda nevegal x pro. has big knobs but i will probably wait until the snow hits before i put it on. i like right now how my old rear is almost a slick. makes it cool for skids and ill skid A LOT. showing off that flair.

I enjoy how tires evolve into slicks on my MTB..... I wait until they're completely bald to change them because the slippery dynamic at the back end is FUN AF.

Can confirm getting cold AF in the Rockies. Hit snowmass, Winter park, and Telluride downhill course in the last couple weeks. Colors were poppin in Telluride Saturday. It’s gonna be a good winter if temperature and snow fall already means anything

hell yeah

ive never bought a pure slick tire maybe i should? at least for summer?

i typically buy a new tire right before winter which goes on the front and the front goes on the rear. if the rear is ok ill keep it for next summer but yeah my last two rears basically had the knobs ripped off from skidz LOL!

plus too im sure slicks have a bit more reinforcement. my last knobby tire turned slick had 3 flats in 2 weeks! fuuuuck!

Retired. Basically just ride, lift, and cook. LOL. I make just enough money just to do all three.

Here, it's loose and rocky. Even with aggressive knobby tires for dry conditions, you're still sliding all over the place, and the faster you go, the more spicey it becomes. lol

Cool weather FINALLY. Actually woke up at 5am to ride at around 8am. lol. That's early for me.

Went to Pima Dynamite Trailhead to ride the network of trails.

I never ever been there. I was supposed to meet up with a Tucson group that made the trip up here, but they gave me the wrong start location. By the time they told me, I arrived too late at the updated location, so I rode by myself. Oh well, it happens.

I think I road around 20-25 miles. I forgot to start my strava, and I got lost for a bit near the end. Over shot the starting trail head by 6 miles, and had to ride 6 miles back after about a 18 mile loop. I dunno. I was just exploring all over the place.

I have to admit, it was REAL purdy out there.

Anyway, since was by myself, just took scenics and selfies. lol

Rode Sedona trails Wed & Thurs. Did an overnight camping off FR525.

Group ride with a Sedona Crew on Weds evening. Rode, Girder, and Skywalker, and some others I don't remember. No one took pics. Was a faster paced ride.

Thursday morning, headed out by myself. Hit Chuckwagon, and got lost. Just hitting different trails. Found a different section of Chuckwagon, and just followed it ,not know where it popped out. Found out, popped out just a 1/4 mile from the Chuckwagon Drop-in! LOL. Worked out as I was running out of water and calories. Road fasted on Thursday morning.

Met a Bike-Camping Family from France. They were super interesting. Mom & Dad plus 3 small daughters! Started in Phoenix and ending in Los Angles! Crazy. They were running low on water, so I went into Sedona and bought them 2 gallons of drinking water. They made me coffee.

They were planning to arrive in LA in December. LOL. Talked to them for quite awhile. I said I'd like to visit France one day and they both wanted my contact info so that i can stay with them in France! I felt weird about that, so I declined.

Anyway, here's some pics from Thurs ride. Was by myself so just scenic pics.

Rode down Mt Lemmon (Bugs Springs to Molino Basin), then down the rest of the mountain to the Safeway on Mt Lemmon HWY

Absolute blast despite breaking my toe. LOL! Overshot a jump, and clipped a tree with my right foot. Smashed the middle toe up good. Rade to ride another 15 miles. LOL. No cares.

Was with the fast group, so no real pics. Just stopped long enough to enjoy some vista views and snack breaks.

Another Day, another ride.... sort of, kind of... really short ride.

Blew out the rear hub laying the power down. DT Swiss 350 hub with 54t ratchet. Ugh... it's not even my bike, but my brothers.

Honestly, not a fan of the DT Swiss 350 hub. The 36t ratchet is fine, and this would not have happened. 54t has much smaller teeth engagement, and I can lay the power down. Stripped it.

I still have the 36t to get this hub back working again. My brother upgraded it because he simply likes the buzzing sound of the 54t... srs. *face palms*

Anyway, gotta explain to him now. ugh.

Got one pic from the ride before I had to turn back.

Yeah, teeth slip on engagement now. I don't like it because it's simply two little springs pushing the 2 cogs together. If the springs somehow don't have even tension, the cogs will slip, and then it's done. The teeth are worn down and won't engage properly.

And as I said, the teeth on 54t are tiny compared to the 36t. Same diameter cog, but have to make the teeth tiny to fit all 54t,


Wonder if there's a warranty on the 54t ratchet.

Dt swiss has some of the best products I've ever used & worked on. I'd contact them to see what they say.

Was the upgraded star ratchet a legit DT Swiss part?

Just a thought, there is a lot of questionable aftermarket stuff floating around.

slacking on the mtn bike lately but killing BMX

had a nice 30 mile ride around Gainesville last night rode out the UF bat houses and watched the stream of bats leave em at dusk

Yeah. It's legit.

Funny you should mention knock-offs. My brother first bought a knock off 54t on aliexpress... lasted 2 rides before it too was blown out.

This legit one has around 800-900 miles on it. Not a lot by my standards, but 700 miles were from me. I ride my bro's bike more than he does. lol.

I cancelled my amazon prime for this exact reason.... Amazon is shipping you ALIBABA trash directly from chyna, and it's always garbage 100% of the time.

If the part isn't available on JENSON USA, then I don't buy it.
