Whats a GOOD starting bow for archery?
Im not looking to get 1 of those fukken 115lb rambo bows. But smth slick but still proper.
Saw a bish with the tightest booty walking today w a bow, i was instantly sold.
Plus i can stealthy hunt my own game meat with that bitch once ww3 starts & i go awol

Archery is not for poorcels. A legit compound set up is going to run you into the 2k range after you put the proper components on it. Even if you shoot traditional with a longbow or recurve, those are going to be spendy and a lot more difficult to learn. No matter what you’re using, archery hunting is a lot more difficult than just buying a bow and suddenly being able to harvest an animal, especially with a traditional bow. I think you should do it. Archery is fun and addicting. Get a bow and join a local club. Maybe that chick will be there. Great way to meet people also.
Go on archery talk forum and go to the classifieds section. There are some archery psychos on there who will buy a brand new set up every year and will be selling their old one for way cheaper than it can be bought new.
Make sure you get a Mathews if you’re going compound. The 2024 model is about to be released for all major bows and those psychos will be selling their 2023 bows for quite the discount.

Used to bow hunt a lot more, but haven't the last few years. It looks like you're in Europe? In some US states there are big advantages for hunting access with a bow versus a crossbow. I have no idea if that's the case for Europe. Crossbows definitely have some big advantages, though, for a hunter. Generally they are faster and people shoot them more accurately. Also, not needing to draw on an animal is a significant advantage of a crossbow. The only real advantage I see with a bow is follow up shots are faster, but you've pretty much lost with either if you need follow up shots.
Compound will generally be easier to learn and be accurate with versus a recurve, but like I said, a crossbow will be easier still. You don't need to spend $1K to get something good.

I'd highly recommend a Predator Raptor. $270.00 comes with everything you need except a release and arrows.
Its a solid bow for the price. TBH I'm not sure there are better deals out there. Furthermore it has a life-time warranty except for strings/cables/rubber dampners which can wear over time and need to be replaced as a norm.

archery is a niche...it's more expensive and harder than a firearm. That said its more rewarding.
My seteup is a Bowtech Assasin. Great bow. Had it about 7 years maybe. Have put add ons that put it over 2k easily.
My dad has shot everything from recurve (first bow) to compound, to cross bow (which is a 10Point with integrated Garmin self adjusting range finding scope...package is prob close to 5k...scope alone is over 1k....but he cant pull a bow back any more and he and I dont want him to give it up so this is what he runs now).
Bottom line....get an adjustable compound bow. An adjustable should let you adjust the pull up to -+ 10 lbs either way. The Bowtech I run is an 80lb bow. You want to have 50lb min for whitetail/deer (you could go as low as 40lb but why....don't be a pu$$y...the drawbacks far outway the slightly less hard of a pull). The higher the poundage the harder to pull back but the faster the arrow. You also want to look for a bow with a high % of let off.....thats where the compound bows pulley system comes in.....my 80lb bow takes 80lb of force to pull back but once the pulleys flip at the end of the pull the let off is about 80% so it effectively makes holding the bow back only 16ish lb.....this is huge as it lets you hold the shooting positon longer when the animal inevitably moves or sees you and you need to hold the shot...you will not be able to "let down" the string without a huge jerking motion and spooking off the animal.
Brands id recommend are Diamond....it's PSE's lesser brand. If you want to step it up look at Mathews or Bowtech or PSE

Find a shop near you and get measured for draw length. I'm tall with a long wing span so I was limited on bows. I have a 32" DL. I ended up finding a used PSE Evoke EC for $500.
Then it needed sights, etc. Ended up being closer to $800 set up then another $200 for arrows and tips.
It gets used for Elk
