Bout to go mow.

What's so special about this gixxer that you have to fly to go buy it?

I might be willing to do that for a rare bike like the 2003 Honda CBR954 Black/Red, but a gixxer, naw... naw, mane... those bikes have always been a dime a dozen.

This right here was rare even in 2003, pretty sure it doesn't even exist anymore hiding in someone's garage.

This bike is 20 years old but would still mog the f/ck outta modern bikes.

I hate the dual side exhausts on gsxr 1000s. It looks ridiculous. I miss when the r1s had twins coming out under the seat

Myself personally, I never dug the underseat exhaust cause it always looked like the rider was sticking his as5hole out... I prefer the old-school side exhaust.

Crazy trip guys, gonna recap and debrief to process what happened

Slept at airport for flight but missed boarding so had to rebook for next flight
they picked me up from airport
cool ppl, they were conservatives in lib state so we got along
bought the bike, but realized afterwards that the ignition key didn't fit the helmet lock. Owner said might be rusted so I was like whatever
started riding home, gas light came on (no fuel gage on these 1000cc superbikes lol) and needed gas, FCKN KEY DIDN'T FIT THE GAS CAP (i should've checked but this is my 4th bike and never thought to check if a key fits the locks before if it starts up fine)
OH FCK.jpg. My fckn heart sank

Brb 6 hrs from home, on a Sunday, with a possible stolen bike that I dropped A LOT of money on, and I can't even put gas in it
So I call the owner (some chick who said she knows nothing about bike), she bought bike for her bf who ended up molesting her 14 yo daughter and he went to jail so that's why she sold bike
turns out reg is clear (which was a huge relief)
now I am still stranded at a gas station
I realize the ignition was swapped out, maybe bf lost the key and didn't change gas/helmet lock (this is the only explanation since I have to do this on my zx10)

run into these two rugged tradies one mexican one pollack (mexican was a machinist) at the station
what are the fckn odds
bros live right down the street and I ask if they can drill that btch out
so we drilled into the fckn gas cap (ask if this is the first time he did this, ***** laughed lmao)
2 hrs later after cracking those lock barrels, we open that **** with a fat flathead
It's 4:30 pm at this point, I haven't properly slept or ate anything so I get us food
I hit the road and head home, but accidently left my allen keys w them damn

Mostly (thankfully) uneventful rest of ride home besides catching some light showers last 30 min but not soaked or anything
hit 180 mph, but mostly went 75-90 since I still had a license plate on
Made it home and my body just fckn hurt
Now I gotta focus on test this friday and drink a lot of powerade fluids and protein

Learned a lot though for sure. Now my zx10 needs probably an ignition swap or removed and taken to a locksmith so gotta do that but it seems much more feasible

You should just ride the zx10 back there to have the tradies work on it.

they probably had a locksmith remake the ignition key - you only use one side of the key for the ignition, inexperienced locksmith ignores the fact that the ignition and gastank use the same key but the gastank requries both sides to be cut

My buddy has this exact bike, same color combo. Wild bike to ride.

Bought it new in 2003 when I had my 900, works on the road most summers so hasn't put much for miles on it, still rides it once in a while.

I would seriously consider buying it from him if it's still in good condition.

Even in 2003, this color scheme was extremely rare.

Most riders from the early 2000s were obsessed with Yamaha and Suzuki. Honda just couldn't get any love. So this bike was rare to see on the street.

But, it's aged beautifully and still would mog most modern bikes.

This.

"registration" doesn't mean chit other than it's legal to ride.

Never hand over money until the title is in hand and notarized for sale.

Is this your first rodeo?

Could still be considered a stolen bike if the title is in the BF name and is in jail. The GF buying the bike doesn't mean chit.

Best you can do is "maybe" get a salvage title if the bike is deemed abandoned. In which case, you already paid too much

Yeah got the title. Plate and VIN match up

It's just a crazy experience all around. They picked me up at an airport and went up to the mountains where they live

Since we drilled out the gas lock, I use a fat a$$ flathead to open the tank at every pull up. I'll prob swap it out like I did on the zx10 with an aftermarket lock and key, but the problem is aftermarket ones tend to leak in water

In case anyone is interested

the gsxr feels smooth as fck. It's newer than my zx10 but the power delivery is very linear and torquey compared to the kawi. I think having the stock pipe makes it seem more effortless though compared to the zx10 which is currently catless open header lol

however, the zx10 is like a bat out of hell the top end is fckn nuts. The zx10 is mellow down low but once you're at 11k+ it pulls like a freight train and you gotta hold on for dear life while it screams at you for more. I want to see how these bikes fare against each other tbh

Definitely can. I started on a 636 but couldve started on a 1000.

You gotta be really careful though and have to ride within your limits on low power mode at first. Easy af to kill yourself on one of these
