I think every man should have this outlook: I frequently succeed but also frequently fail. I am a work in progress and can improve myself, but I can also appreciate my accomplishments.

Yeah, basically. Feels like my life has just been one step forward followed by one step backward. I'm 28 and my life today is basically the same as my freshman year of college.

May dad made 4 times as much as me at my age (inflation calculated in) and was his own boss.
I have to go into long ass meetings defending the careers of my team, who are layoff targets, like myself.

I'm the best at everything. So no.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

In 1990, my dad
-was making $60k/yr working on a manufacturing line (=$144k today). That job was offshored to China in 1999.
-saved up for a down on a house (would buy in 1991 for $68k @ 9%. Today that house is $380k @ 8%).
-owned a truck (would be $30k minimum today).
-owned 2 snowmobiles that he'd ride on weekends ($20k a pop today).
-had a 4 year college degree, where his employer paid for half (undergrad tuition assistance doesn't exist any more outside of military, undergrad schooing is $25k/yr).
-fukked the prom queen back in HS (there were literally zero women in my STEM magnet high school).
-hung out with his former high school football team every weekend (all the dudes in my high school class moved away from my hometown to find work).
-was hooking up with my mom (I have never kissed a girl).
I'd hear these stories from him growing up in the Bush era, and think damn, maybe my life will go something like that.

Depends on how you define failure. I voted yes because I've yet to fulfil the greatest calling a human has which is to create/raise children but I've been decently successful in all other aspects of life. I am making it a point to find a worthy mate because I've came to the realization that if I keep putting it off until I'm "doing better" for myself I'll always reach for the next level and miss out.

To my late father, yes I'm a failure but to my mother, I’m a success.

To me? I'm still alive and kicking, that's all that matters.
