Jon Jones tore his pec, out for 8 months. Pavlovich vs Aspinall for interim

Dayum, sad news but we can finally see what I predicted back in 2022.

https://forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com/showt...hp?t=181026813

Hope they add Ankalaev vs Walker on this one and it will be 5x the card Abu Dhabi just had

at least least it was because of an injury and not his shenanigans this time

EDIT: so is stipe done for good? this is an interim title fight now so jon wouldnt jones have to face the winner no matter what?

Probably worked out for the best for Jon

He might've won but it seemed risky. At this point he should just retire undefeated and stop chasing after heavyweight fights before he gets KTFO eventually

yep. Stipe is a challenge which he admitted himself, yet fans think he'd run through him like butter. Doesn't help his legacy much because if he wins people will just say Stipes old

IMO that fight would have been a war, like the Gustafson fight.

Stipe would've been a tough fight too because he can actually wrestle

And agreed, the reward of beating Stipe at this point doesn't outweigh the risk to his legacy if he got slept which might've happened

fk these short notice fights with elite guys. It just robs us of the real fights.

Jon may as well retire. He's not going to fight the champ when he comes back, and fighting a 42 year old Stipe for no belt will just be weird and pointless.

This sucks. Would have been incredible to see the GOAT ride off into the sunset with another title.

Sucks for Jones but I'm happy we get two deserving contenders for the title now instead of two veterans who only want to handpicks money or "legacy" fights. This fight is 10 times the fight Jones vs. Stipe ever was.

My friend was trying to get me to buy tickets for UFC 295 with all these inflated prices then this happens.

I got Sergei for this one.

This fight ****s all over the Jones vs. Miocic fight. They're the legit number one and two contenders, what's there not to like? We actually get the two guys who deserve to fight for the title fighting for it, although a fake version of the title. I'll consider the winner the legit HW champ.

Yes, it will be an interesting fight. However, there's a mystic about Jones that we all wanted to see the GOAT in action.

I personally hope both he and Stipe retire so the new young blood can carry the division

Its a better fight sure. The HW division moves along and we get to see 2 fighters in their prime scrap. However its the same thing that just happened with Volk. Chucking Tom in there on short notice against a killer thats had a camp to prepare. It usually doesn't end well. This is a fight we'd likely get to see at some point anyway, but i'm kinda doubting jones/stipe ever actually materializes now. Also Jones and Stipe are seperated from the rest of the divsion in the sense that they don't really matter to the rankings anymore. They're old and due to retire and its more or else like a celebrity fight in a sense. Shame this happened as I was looking forward to seeing it.

Under normal circumstances with both fighters having a full camp to prep I'd favour Tom, but given how this has played out I'm leaning Pavlovich.

It's likely jones and stipe will fight next year and both will retire after that. It was rumored this was gonna happen this fight. Then the winner of the interim just becomes the undisputed champ when they retire

You'd have heard the snap if it wasn't fake.

He's just gonna do a couple cycles now that USADA is out.
