When I was younger and browsing misc, it negatively impacted me somewhat by planting a really stupid concept in my head. The "bootstraps" mentality that you should move out at 18 with $0 and no education and no skills and as long as you work hard, everything will work out.
Life is not fair. If you find yourself in a position where the unfairness benefits you, you should take full advantage of it and not feel bad about it.

No way would I have gotten hired by a local agency if I wasn’t trans at the time I applied
I had unstable work history until recently and bad credit from only 18 months prior
That would temporarily DQ or Non Select most minority candidates
Just lol @ all tradies ; current and former

I can’t see my AA card getting me to the top anyway, it’ll only work up to a certain point

in some ways absolutely not
If you have any amount of anxiety transitioning and going out in public will probably give you panic attacks (weak) because people constantly stare or mean mug you
You have to have your guard up a little too because people either kiss your ass too much or want to kill you and threaten you with violence no inbetween
Doesn’t bother me any though
It’s decent prep for being a cop actually if you think about it ….

My race and citizenship have mattered far more in my jobs than my education or technical knowledge.
-Got hired because I was a white. I was in a department of ~80, and the only white guys in my department were me, my manager, and a guy on another team who my manager had hired. When that manager brought in a white intern, I figured out what the game was. He just wanted bros to talk about basketball with.
-Got fired because I was white. Again, department of 80, and everyone that was let go was a US citizen. The only person who wasn't was a ****** who had just failed their 3rd round visa application and was about to get relocated to Canada (lmao). Kind of gave the game away. I get it, fired US citizens can find another job stateside, fired H1-Bs basically have their life destroyed. But still guys... could you be a little less obvious?
-Getting interviewed now because I'm white. Talking to a defense contractor who is all over my dikk, because they need US citizens.
