Slavery isn't the reason you're a loser.

Stupid fks like you should have to pay all the rest of America reparations for having to deal with your trash culture day in and day out. You should also have the pay reparations to all the families that fought and died to free you in the civil war - Also to all the British families that fought the slavers across the pond. Time to pony up, princess.

Who was "held back"? Anyone in the United States is far ahead of where they'd be in most other countries. Have you returned to your centuries-old country of origin for all the great opportunities available there? Pathetic

You've had your entire lifetime to succeed... and here you are, advocating that someone else must give you a handout for things that never happened to you.

And the Native Americans are thriving because of reparations....not.

I agree, all reparation's at this point should be completely removed. Affirmative action removed, any compensation to natives removed. They dont help anyone. That's why. You know what helps? Giving people equal opportunity and freedoms, and then make them work for success. Handouts always make things worse.

It’s not unique in the slightest. For example, if Black Panther was a documentary, Wakanda would have been a slaver colony full of slaves captured from other African tribes, as had been the norm in Africa since forever. The only difference between there and America being that at least in America the slaves weren’t killed in mass sacrifice by the thousands to the Gods on a regular basis.

I suppose though that’s slightly better than if they were sold to the Arabs, who used to castrate all the males. This is why there are barely any black people in the Arab world today, despite even more slaves being sold to there than to America.

Nobody is saying that the American slave trade wasn’t completely abhorrent and evil, causing repercussions felt today. But don’t pretend it was unique or uncommon in the slightest. It was probably the most common and normal thing that’s ever happened. You’ll have to give about 90% of the world’s population reparations, since probably at least that amount are descendants from slavery.

This isn't an argument for or against reparations, but there was conveniently never a "right time" for reparations, even when it would have been deemed appropriate. Even when other disenfranchised racial groups received restitution for the wrongs that were done to them by the US Government (native Americans, the Japanese, the descendents of Chinese railroad workers and even the jews even though we weren't the one putting them in camps. Hell, even slave owners received "reparations" for the loss of their "property" when slavery ended). Black folks werealwaysput on the back burner for one reason or another. Reparations has been brought up as early as the 1920s and 30s when slave and slave owners were still alive. Then again in the 1960s (where they said abolishing Jim Crow was our "reparations") and every since the 60s and onward the open and shut case has been:"well they're all dead, so let's just forget about it"

And now the sarcastically snarky excuse is that welfare is reparations when neither have anything to do with one another.

It truly is too late for reparations, but it's kinda phucked up how the "powers that be" intentionally kicked the can down the road so much that it became irrelevant.

Eh, debatable They lost 99% of their land but they still have ownership of some of their land and have access to ancient burial grounds and their mother tongue. They even got to keep their names. When Africans arrived here we lost our entire identities Our language our name or anything that has to do with our ancestral land. Most of us have last names like "Washington Harrison Jackson and Jefferson" because we just copied the names of former presidents.

Virtually all of my white friends who used Ancestry.com can trace their lineage back to the 16th and 17th century. When I used it, I was lucky to find anything substantial before 1910 because there were no birth or death records kept for us.

Not only do they not deserve reparations, but also lets be honest and admit it's not about whats deserved or not; blacks just want what whites have and they don't want to earn it, they want it stolen and given to them.

"Muh reparations" is just a pathetically thinly veiled attempt to keep getting handouts from whites in perpetuity.

True, but those empires do not exist anymore, but America is the superpower that it is today because of that 240 years of free labor.

Not really, no.

If you want to say itcontributed, that's one thing. Idiots who say "slaves built this country", or whatever, are retards. Some free cotton picking (and it wasn't free, they did have to feed and house them) doesn't build a nation or create a superpower. To even suggest or imply that is beyond stupid.

Correct, which is why in the US it was initially proposed as "40 acres and a Mule," but with the modernization of society, mule ownership isn't that important of a commodity and it would be impossible to provide 40 acres to the exponentially larger black population which is where the money alternative was brought back into question.

Id wager the RoI more than made up for itself when the unpaid labor was for life to live a shack with the other farm animals (horses/cows) and only fed left over table scraps......That's why black people have crappy eating habits like pigs feet and chitlins.

I love that in 2023 you still think it's whitey's fault that even though for the last 60+ years blacks have been given more opportunity for success than any other race, yet they constantly choose to play the victim card instead?

Literally no successful black person agrees with you.

Asians were treated even worse than blacks, longer than blacks, yet they are by far the most successful race in America. Please explain that.

You know all of the money and resources spent on the Civil War and then the ensuing Reconstruction (POST slavery)?

Well you know..."slaves built this country".

I won't even bother getting into all of the other aspects (of which there are MANY) of how moronic that claim is.

Like I said already, he's said a ton of moronic **** over the years. And we really only became a superpower after WW2. Which ended in 1945, 80 years after a Civil War that devastated our country.

Hell, he probably believes every white person was just living in luxury and that everyone owned a slave back in the day.....

Black people who immigrated here after 1865, what happens to them? What about Caribbeans and South Americans who look black?

Africans that came here after 1865 were still marginalized and seen as second class citizens.

And I guess this is the part where you bring up the Irish. The difference is, after one generation of an Irish person intermingling with a different "type" of white person, they were able to blend in with the others, while there was no way for a black person to mask their race.

Ive told this story here before but the only reason why I live in California is because my grandparents on my dad's side had a highly lucrative mom and pop grocery store in 1940s Louisiana. They had to flee the State in the middle of the night after the KKK burned it down. All their life savings was burnt up in the store (they didnt keep their money in the bank because of the events of the Great Depression)They had to start their life over from scratch and never quite recovered financially from the move...so that was certainly a hamper on the accumulation of generational wealth (from my families perspective at least).

Son, after a shower and maybe some hair dye an Irish person could claim to be any other type of white without issues.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

1. This happened to your GRANDPARENTS.

2. Not you.

3. How TF is something that happened to your GRANDPARENTS keeping you from doing anything?"Zomg I don't have teh generational wealth! Life is bad! Bad I say!"

4. What about the other people - both black and white whose grandparentsdidn'thave "a highly lucrative mom and pop grocery store?" Any ideas for what they can they blame shiit on? They deserve reparations too or nah.
