Saw the video, dude definitely wanted to kill him. Surprised it took this long to arrest him especially after hes been flagged as hyper-violent in the past

The difference is the hockey player needs to be aware a skate can be a deadly weapon due to its ability to cut someone open. Plus he targeted a more vulnerable area (head/neck) where a blow is far more likely to be critical.
Absolutely not the same as a cheap low hit to the legs in football.

As a hockey fan and someone who grew up playing, I can't fathom how that would've been incidental.
Did he mean to kill him? I hope not.
Did he recklessly and intentionally kick his skate up with the intention of hitting him with it (regardless of if he meant to get him with the blade or boot)? IMO, yes.

What about a pitcher throwing a pitch at someone's head? 99 mph could easily kill them. Pitchers do this all the time

Point of contact was probably an accident. But he meant to kick him.

I play the sport. It wasn’t a matter of losing balance. He was trying to make contact and he happened to impulsively use his foot. It’s wreckless and he should be in jail

I think that's more rare than it used to be.
Do they go for the head or body now when they want to bean a guy?

Difference is a batter is completely focused on the pitch and can see it coming, thus should be able to move out of the way. They're also wearing a helmet.
No hockey player is "ready" for a skate to the neck/face.

But yes of course hurling a ball at someones head is still dangerous, albeit not equal to this hockey incident.

Don't know how much anyone here has been kicking the can with this, but anyone who knows anything about Hockey: your feet stay on the ice at all times. Nobody intentionally picks a foot up to check anyone (for obvious reasons)
