PSA: PS Portal doesn't have a web browser = No Internet for you...LMFAO!!!

If you go to a hotel, airport or any public place that requires you to log in, you can't. So much for sonycels claiming portability when you go out of your homes wifi, you literally have a paper weight. It's not even good for what it does, Sonycels take another L.

Do you normally stay at hotels or fly in airports with no WiFi?

They have public WiFi too here

Do you guys ever travel? Most hotels require you to sign in or at least open a web browser to accept their terms of service even If it's free.

That can be a big issue if there's really no workaround.

This Indian dude from Canada totally destroyed the PS Portal, calling it the worst product ever made

LMAO @ any suckers who actually bought this garbage, what consumercels lol. The fact that some people are actually trying to defend such a trash product speaks volumes about how sonycels will buy anything with PS branding. By this point they are worse than Apple fanboys.

Here’s the neat thing, you don’t have to buy one if you don’t want to. It’s mere existence doesn’t negatively effect your life in the slightest !

Bruh, most sonycels never leave their basement lol

I don't think I have ever used a public hotel wifi that didn't require some sort of terms agreement

Workaround is getting a travel router.

Something like this:
https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-mt3000/

there are smaller ones, they are as cheap as $25 depending on how much bandwidth capacity and features you need.

I use one on travel, lets me connect a chromecast to their TV cause I have my own network. The router lets you log in to the hotel's wifi (using captive portal) and you can even run everything through a VPN

That is good but also generally defeats the purpose of this device, which is really ease of use and simplicity

For all that just play on the iPad

See above you can do it with a travel router..... but IDK if you are talking about bringing your entire PS5 with you or trying to leave it at home and stream from some hotel thousands of miles away the lag would probably be trash anyways. You could setup a VPN tunnel to your house, it would be doable but it would probably trash, I would rather just play a switch at that point.

You should look into one, outside of the stupid playstation portal, if you travel a lot. They can do a lot of useful things. You can connect on ethernet to the hotel wifi for example. Can make things like using a work laptop simpler.

Don't take it personal, unless you identify as a sonycel there's no reason to be upset.

Saying this in a subforum with 32 threads about Starfield's player base is pretty laughable tbh.

Maybe you forgot the back in forth we had in the other thread with your 19 failed attempted to make a point. Low IQ, JLoL, However here you are right about a browser option increasing usability. But to act as if there aren't other ways the use the device puts you back into idiot ways of posting. TBH if I stay at a hotel I am typically high status where I am popping on the highest tier Internet for free through the Hotel's app on my phone anyway, and that is if I even have to use hotel WiFi, in most cases I am staying in a city with great 5G speeds which almost everywhere in the US has now. But sure we can act like everyone is traveling to a Red Roof Inn in a tiny town in Iowa to say PlayStation is bad.

While you can use your phone as a hotspot, lack of browser is indeed an oversight imo. It should have at least that and maybe even a youtube/Netflix/prime video app because it would be nicer to stream on that vs your phone.

Anyways I still think this device is mostly really a chitstation. Ideal for playing around the house, in bed or esp when taking a dump.

This LMAO. It's hilarious how quick sonycels are to criticize and attack anyone over any instance of criticism related to Sony, meanwhile they relentlessly hate on everything Xbox on the daily, creating a multitude of threads about anything negative about one of their games lol.

They're such utter hypocrites.

Dude, I'm not going to use my phone as a hotspot. It's going to kill my battery and I'm a very important person making business deals 24/6. No thx Jeff.

How about as opposed to having buy, setup, and use networking equipment or phones as a hotspot, you just stream chit directly onto your phone and use one of those controller attachments?

Lol @ all the hoops sonycels are willing to jump through just to use some garbage streaming device that will probably run like chit away from home anyways. It's just a glorified Wii U tablet for a PS5 at the end of the day.

Wouldn't it use the web browser from PS4/5 since it's a remote control?

And you'd rather use your phone as the actual streaming device?

Do you not understand how a mobile HotSpot works? JLoL. This is a cringe as they time you were hating on the DualSense and made the claim Xbox has had adaptive triggers for 10 years.

I am not sure you could, I believe it only runs game apps as I see people complaining you can't run Netflix. But still, the issue without having a browser on the device is you don't have the means to get on a WiFi that requires a web login.

Wow, thats a lot worse than I thought. I was under the impression it was like Apples Screen mirroring or Xbox remote play.
I'm sure they can update it over the next few years and fix some of of the issues.

Like the guy above me said, usually hotels make you login on a browser before you can even use WiFi.
